TheMightyEthan
Well, you have to buy them with in-game money. It's just you can buy the in-game money with real money, so if you're super impatient you could spend $50 on the season pass and then another $2700 to get enough in-game money to unlock the cars. Hot Heart
You don't have to, but apparently the xp progression or 'grind' of the game has been ruined.

staySICK
friend of mine works at toys r us. I guess they had a day one edition pre order cancelled, and they had to send it back? seems odd.

Vecha
You know, if MS hadn't tried to pull that DRM shit(and yes, I know they pulled it out) AND if they had made the kinect optional...I might have been sitting here with an xbox one with plans to get a ps4 next year. Now, I'm here with a lovely ps4(waiting to get a couple new games this xmas) with plans of not getting an xbox one for at least two years if ever(Unless some Awesome Exclusive...meaning No PC port...heads to the xbox one that ISN'T a FPS). I actually kinda think the TV interaction is neat, but only as a distraction from games, not as something to brag about OVER games. Hopefully, if MS doesn't just toss out the Xbox idea, they'll fasten their heads on tighter next gen(or maybe a few years into this gen like Sony had to do). Mister Jack
In order for me to get an xbone they'll have to drop the mandatory kinect purchase, lower the price, and make it smaller. If they do a version of the console with all that then I'll consider it. Edited November 24, 2013 by Mister Jack

I hope they don't abandon it, cause that would leave Sony essentially without competition.

TheMightyEthan
I think limiting output to 50 Hz whenever TV content is on screen is the obvious solution.
deanb
There's a bit of a shit storm on the Skype side of things having an issue with you if you use profanity and issuing temporary bans. So wash your mouth out before going near your xbox one. Though the embedded image is more amusing for the broken english. @Ethan: Obvious and technical simple aren't always the same. I'd have said obvious solution would have been to check first.

deanb
The hertz would be the broadcast signal, so likely not an issue there (especially for online services like NEtflix and Hulu), however PAL is at a different frame rate. 25fps versus NTSCs 30fps, which does mean it needs to be rejigged a little when shown on US sets. TheMightyEthan
Most US TV shows are actually filmed at 24 fps though, and that doesn't seem to be an issue. I think the issue is that more UK TV shows are recorded on video tape rather than actual film (at least more of the ones I've watched are), which leads to the Soap Opera Effect for people who aren't used to watching things that were recorded at the higher framerate. It's an issue with the filming framerate, not the broadcast framerate, and is why a lot of people didn't like the HFR in the Hobbit, and don't like motion smoothing TVs. staySICK
but the weird thing is to me I only see it in uk shows. Only.
TheMightyEthan
Xbone teardown and bill of materials. Materials and estimated manufacturing come to $471. $75 of that is the Kinect, so if they took that out of the box they could sell the thing for $400 and be essentially breaking even, making them massively more competitive with the PS4. The fact that the controllers only cost $15 makes me even more irritated about the $60 asking price for extras (I'm sure it's a similarly ridiculous markup for DS4's, though the touch pad probably drives up component costs). deanb
Quite strange to see that even if you take Kinect out of the equation it's still costs more to make than the PS4.
deanb
http://www.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/we-got-your-back Given the size of Microsoft this had to have passed through several folks before this went live on their site and seemingly not one of them went "doesn't this read a bit wrong to you?". Hey honey, Not sure if you’ve heard, but Xbox One is now available. That means we can start playing games like Dead Rising 3. I know, I know. You’d rather knit than watch me slay zombies, but hear me out on this. Xbox One is actually for both of us. Seriously.
