TheFlyingGerbil
I think it's a bit soon to be hoping for a slim model! Aren't they usually two or three years down the line?
Mister Jack
I can be patient.
TheFlyingGerbil
No doubt, it just read like you were expecting an E3 announcement or something. Personally, I'm waiting for the slim PS4 while I work through my gaming backlog on my other consoles. .At the moment I can't think what MS could do to make me buy a XO. Mister Jack
Slim + Dead Rising/Sunset Overdrive bundle + No Kinect would be pretty tempting to me. If there's a price drop by the time all that happens then it's practically a sure thing. This is assuming, of course, that all the exclusive games coming out over the next two or three years don't suck.
TheFlyingGerbil
The only xbox exclusive game I liked was Fable, but I'm not insane enough to buy a console just to play that. Haven't even heard anything about that except the Journeys game. Is that franchise dead now?
TheMightyEthan
I vaguely recall them recently making some vague references to continuing the series.
TheFlyingGerbil
Just had a quick look and it's Fable Legends, it says its a co-op version of the Fable, but will keep people playing for 5 years? Sounds a but weird unless maybe it will be to MMOs what the previous games were to RPGs.
Mal
To follow the train of things Microsoft is doing... you can get a refund on Xbox Live now. Main reason is for those who got Live just for applications like Netflix and Hulu. So the applications that are going out of the paywall. Next thing you know, they'll silence everybody with free multiplayer.
deanb
Listening to thier "fans"....aka the new bosses and investors at MS.
Vecha
Still the "best" experience to do it with Kinnect, huh? Guess it's better than Deal with it.
Mister Jack
Xbox One with Kinect: it's slightly better!
CorgiShinobi
Personally, with the announcement of a Kinect-less, interest has risen 11% in the Xbox One. Current Interest: 11%

TheMightyEthan
Sorry to double post, but I was thinking: I wonder if now that they're launching a Kinect-less version they'll fix some of the interface stupidnesses that exist because of it. For instance, you currently cannot have it automatically sign you in unless you have Kinect plugged in, because there's no true auto-sign-in, just Kinect recognition or manual sign-in. I mean PS4 doesn't automatically sign you in either, but it at least boots directly to the sign-in screen with the last-used user selected. On Xbone you have to manually navigate to that menu. Mister Jack
God I hope so. I tried to navigate the menu on a demo Xbone where the kinect wasn't plugged in and it was just a complete mess. Maybe if we pray to Phil Spencer hard enough he'll fix that too.
FredEffinChopin
This is why fans/gamers suck though, they should have been telling them for years that Kinect is a waste of time and resources that nobody is interested in, rather than being super excited about the Kinect, giving MS the false impression that people REALLY wanted no other option than to buy one with the XBone.
Mister Jack
Don't look me at me. I was saying from the beginning that the kinect was a piece of shit that nobody should buy.

FredEffinChopin
I totally should have switched the /s off. My bad.

Mister Jack
I dunno, the original kinect did sell really well despite our best efforts.
TheMightyEthan
Did it really sell well?
Mister Jack
It did. Less so with adult gamers than kids and parents, though. Still, they've shipped over 20,000,000 of the things. Even if the actual sales number is lower than that, it's probably still close enough to consider it a success.
TheMightyEthan
Looking into it, it looks like it did really well its first year, and then the market dried up. That was back in 2010, so they had plenty of time to see the writing on the wall.
TheFlyingGerbil
I guess it did well in the first year when people still believed it might be as good and well utilised as Microsoft told everyone. Come year two and it was not half as effective as the adverts implied and games only used it as a very expensive microphone if at all and they should have realised the public had lost trust in it.
