Luftwaffles
I really hate to say this, Fred, but as somebody that's played Battlefield for years, that sounds all too familiar. When a mode is based around essentially taking all points so you can spawncamp your enemy, and a game requires teamplay like Starhawk does, that kind of steamrolling is inevitable. I'm not sure if Starhawk has a server browser or custom servers at all, but I'd recommend shopping around until you find a good one and then just playing that one when you can. FredEffinChopin
Yeah, it seems like smaller TDM games will always end up that way, I've gotta stick to the larger matches where it isn't so easy to abuse someone once you have the upper hand for 5 seconds. It's really messed up. It might not be that bad if the enemies didn't have a bright red light on the ground showing them exactly where your pod (you spawn by shooting down to the planet or station surface in a pod) will land, in addition to seeing your pod drop from the sky so they can begin chasing you before you even touch the ground. I even gotten shot out of the sky in my pod once, before landing, but that might have been a glitch, since my next spawn after that I just dropped from the sky podless... Someone definitely got credit for the kill though. I poked around a couple of forums today though, and it looks like there are plenty of others complaining about it, so maybe some kind of measure will be taken. If they'd at least make it so that the enemy can't see your personal spawning bullseye on the floor I'd be happy. I don't care about being shot out of the sky as much, as it's not easy to do and requires one to focus on the sky, leaving them vulnerable to things right in front of their faces. It's just too much when they're sitting there shooting the ground you're about to land on with tank blasts as you're deploying. It's really not even a matter of overcoming, a team just can't come back once their camp is covered in vehicles. You're being shot at from every direction as you hit the ground, and if you do manage to throw any structure up before dying, it's squashed while you wait to be redeployed. I'm rambling at this point. Lemme stop....
Faiblesse Des Sens
I wonder how much that'd change the game to remove the ability to see where your enemies are landing. Never thought about that...
FredEffinChopin
I definitely can't think of any downsides to it, not right off the top anyway. It certainly would help give the people being spawn-camped a fighting chance. A few seconds to run around at least... As it stands there is pretty much a target labeled "vulnerable guy about to land" for every tank, Hawk, and truck to aim at. I think I'll just occupy myself with CTF and zones in the meantime. Or maybe befriend someone on Playfire or something to get some co-op going. I still can't believe that pretty much my entire friends list neglected this game.... On a side note, one thing I did not expect at all was for all regular DM games to be dogfight only. Unless I'm missing something, it seems like that's the only way the game lets you have a free-for-all. It makes sense in a way, but I still didn't see it coming. Faiblesse Des Sens
Why don't you play bigger TDM games?
FredEffinChopin
It's hard to explain exactly when/why the game froze up on me, but I had been sticking to the auto-match system as I had gotten the impression that I was less susceptible to freezing that way. I think it's kinda moot now though, because I've been experiencing 1P freezing again, which I thought was resolved after the first time I rebuilt the file system on the HDD. I'm thinking I have to send this PS3 in for repair.... Good thing I'm broke. *sigh*
