Johnny
Frozen Synapse! Turn-based tactical multiplayer game. Plan your turn Position your units carefully Try out your plan Make sure to check for any weaknesses Perfect your plan Hit prime Lose the game in five seconds I love this game. It's currently in beta and you can pre-purchase to gain access. The price is at 17 pounds, 19 euros or 26 usd and if you pre-purchase you get an extra copy (and beta key). In case anyone else here plays it, I'm Janxer in-game. Hit me up for a match sometime. Edited May 16, 2011 by Johnny
Mercurial
If it goes down in price I'll think about it.
TheMightyEthan
Yeah, this looks cool, but like about $10 worth of cool.
Pirandello
It looks pretty nice actually. Pretty heavy on the strategy and tactics, and mostly in reading your opponent and his optimal points of contact as well.
Johnny
I like that it lets you easily record and upload replays to youtube. Mind that this is footage only of the actual action; all the planning (which takes up 95-99% of the time) is left Here's two random matches I played recently. Pirandello
You don't need to embed. Just get the YouTube link and use the Insert Media button on the far right of the reply toolbar. EDIT: By the way, second video was an awesome match. I like how your dude at the end just ran past the red guy and then turned around. Boom. Saturnine Tenshi
This looks neat, nifty, spruce, spiffy and rousing. Unfortunately, I think I'm going to have to wait for a sale. >: I do like what I've seen. My backlog is just too large, though.
deanb
Well I'll be pumping out a review soon (woot it runs on netbooks) It has an introversion vibe (if I didn't know better I'd of guessed it was one of their games). It plays like chess in a way. I'm not too good at the thinking of chess, just know the rules. Certainly an interesting take on the turn based strategy game. I'll be more in-depth later. I'd say if you're into that kind of game it'd be worth it at current price (on the basis it's 2 copies for the price of one) but I'd wait for a price drop if you're not sure. btw with the code they also said the free copy deal is only on for a shortwhile longer. Originally was only a pre-order deal anyway. oh I'm deanbmmv if anyone wants to add me.

VicariousShaner
So, anyone trustworthy here wanting to co-buy Frozen Synapse?
Thorgi Duke of Frisbee
So, anyone trustworthy here wanting to co-buy Frozen Synapse? I'd be willing to co-buy it if my brother doesn't want to go in with me. Edited May 30, 2011 by DukeOfPwn
jayc4life
So, anyone trustworthy here wanting to co-buy Frozen Synapse? I'd be down for a co-buy. I tried this out back in October and thought it was great. Speaking of which, I'm surprised Dean hasn't linked my PXOD preview I done back then... deanb
http://www.pressxordie.com/2011/06/01/review-frozen-synapse/ And now for my review. I'll also toss up a video of me kicking Johnnys ass later when we're finished.
P4: Gritty Reboot
Sounds like fun... hopefully I can get around to picking up a copy eventually.
deanb
I'd either get it now, with a buddy, or wait until it's like 66% off or something. Personally I wouldn't pay it's current asking price. It's a good price if you're getting with a friend, but when it drops to one copy per person that's going to be a bit of a high price tag. P4: Gritty Reboot
Yeah, interestingly enough (or not, whatever), it seems that $10 USD is emerging as a common price point for indie PC titles. I think that's generally fair for the content you get with games like these. My Capsized review will be up in the morning, but for now I'll just say it's worth every penny of its $10 price tag. Johnny
Myself I'd actually get it for the current price even if I had nobody to share it with just because it's so far proven to be long-lasting in multiplayer. I don't play it A LOT, but I almost always play it a bit
Hocking
I had gotten really excited about this game, having mistaken it for Subversion from Introversion Software.
Johnny
I love this game but here is the one real gripe I have towards it: some of the maps. Now, the maps are procedurally generated and most of the time there is no clear advantage to either side... And then you run into something like the start of the above video. It's a guessing game. If the opponent guesses wrong two times in a row, my rifleman may survive. If he guesses right either of the first two rounds I have no chance. His shotgun dude spawns right next to my rifleman and runs faster. It's basically a 3v2 match. deanb
I'm on UK7. Haven't played in a while though.
Pirandello
Bought the game, haven't created an online account yet. Been playing the singleplayer. So many buttons, and I'm still in the process of getting the hang of how the whole system works. I did have a good run in campaign with my 4 shotgun commandos against the enemy's 5 riflemen. Small corridors and rooms give my boomsticks the advantage against their rifles. Even pulled an awesome victory with a feign-flank by making it appear like one of my guys was attacking (which they responded to), then duped them and stormed in through the back door guns blazing. Fun stuff.
Enervation
Soundtrack is ace, seriously. And it's been a while since I've had to seriously think about tactics, heh.
deanb
http://store.steampowered.com/app/98200/ There is both a demo and it's the weekend deal. So if you get someone to buy it with you it's £5.
