toxicitizen
Oh yeah, btw, if anyone owns Darksiders II and its season pass, you can get the remaster for free here.

Mr. GOH!
I thought the Xmas 2018 thing was an Amazon placeholder and that it should be out in a year or less. But I could very well be wrong.
deanb
They've a gameplay video up too. Looks quite pretty. I like the use of the whip for traversal. As for release dates, yeah I imagine 2018 is purely place holder.
toxicitizen
Came to post this. So it's definitely in a playable state, then. Looks a little rough, though. Fury's animations look a bit stiff to me and something feels a little...off about the environment. Just can't quite put my finger on what. Given we have no idea what kind of budget this has or what the team size is at Gunfire Games, I'll take this as my cue to manage expectations. It's pre-alpha so I won't make any assumptions here, they have plenty of time until release. But I'll make sure to not let my hype and expectations for a next-gen Darksiders run wild. TheMightyEthan
Xmas 2018 is a placeholder, but I was still assuming it would come out Fall 2018. I don't actually have a basis for that assumption though. Next Spring would be amazing.
Mr. GOH!
I think within a year, barring major delays. I mean, with the timing of the unveiling, I would almost expect it to be out for holiday 2017.
toxicitizen
They pretty much just confirm what you could already assume but it's always interesting to see this aspect of things being acknowledged. IGN sure are milking the shit out of this exclusive, though. I mean, this probably should've been a paragraph in a bigger write-up lol. madbassman39
I'm glad they maintained the art style. I loved the games for what they were, but the art style is what grabbed me in the first place.
toxicitizen
The art style is also arguably the only truly unique element the series has. I absolutely loved 1 and 2 but they're some of the most derivative games I've ever played. D1 was pretty much just a Zelda clone but D2 felt like they took random modules from various games and just threw them all together. I liked the end result but it ended up feeling kinda weird. I guess in a good way because now that I'm thinking about it I'm really looking forward to replaying it in the near future.
toxicitizen
Darksiders III seems to be coming along very nicely. I remember thinking the initial gameplay reveal felt a bit off and stiff but I'm really not getting the same vibe from this. I was hoping it was just due to it being early in development and it seems that was exactly the case.
MetalCaveman
Yup, looks way better now. Can't remember if they've said anything about weapons, will it be like in 1 were you had the Cahoseater and it levels up with use, or like 2 were you got loot from chests/enemies. Either way, looks really cool! \m/ \m/

toxicitizen
Coming out November 27. Also some new gameplay. Starting to look like a proper Darksiders game. I can't see any of that stiffness from the early videos. Although for some reason I keep forgetting that the game actually exists lol. Gonna have to start thinking about doing that Darksiders 2 replay in the near future. Edited July 11, 2018 by FLD
TheFlyingGerbil
I bounced right off the first one - I think I set my expectations too high when everyone said it was like Zelda.
TheMightyEthan
It's like Zelda in the same way that Mr. Pibb is like Dr. Pepper.
Thursday Next
I really enjoyed Darksiders. Never finished 2. I think they added too much RPG stuff iirc.
Mr. GOH!
I liked them both despite how dumb they are. Slowly playing through 1 now and planning a replay of 2 before 3 comes out.

Yeah, I'm all for adding RPG mechanics in other genres but that kind of emphasis on loot drops just isn't a good fit for this kind of action game, imho. I feel the same way about Assassin's Creed Origins right now. Constantly having to swap out weapons and gear because I keep finding new ones with slightly higher numbers isn't exactly what I wanna be doing here. Like, it's one thing in Diablo where that's the entire point, but that's not what I play AC for. Once I bought the season pass and was given a bunch of legendary gear, I was happy to just equip that and keep upgrading it for as long as it was feasible.
TheMightyEthan
Yeah, I thought the older AC's handled it better with fewer but more distinct weapons. I also thought God of War had a good system with specific no weapon options but with enchantments to tweak how they played.

TheMightyEthan
The general consensus seems to be that it's fine, if you're into that sort of thing. Spoiler I am into that sort of thing.
