Well, that was good.

Very good! I didn't expect them to pull it off as well as they did.

Just finished. By the Seve- Lord of Light, R'hllor, Stannis was quite the badass. The fear in their faces was quite something. Then with

I haven't even started on ADWD because I've heard from a friend that I especially don't want to finish it until the next book is officially announced and close to releasing.

Considering the way he said it and the reasons why I can only guess

Which is enough of an assumption/guess to make me stop until the 6th book is out.

Edit: So GRRM has only gotten 200 pages written by March 2012. Considering he had 100 written by January 2012, and the planned length of the book is around 1500 pages I don't see this being published till mid 2014 at the earliest. He at the least gave the major plot points to the 2 major tv producers in case he should die before finishing the series, and since he does not want anybody to finish the story for him it would seem that if he dies we could at least see the story finished in the tv series. Though he's confident he can finish the books before the series catches up. And honestly how couldn't he considering ASoS will be 2 seasons, and AFfC and ADwD can easily be 2 or 3 seasons.

What? That shit is magic. Though they sort of left that out of the show. Actually they might have completely left it out...

Pretty shameful that Martin completely did stupid shit with last night's episode.

STANNIS BOARDS FROM HIS BOAT AND CLIMBS UP THE WALLS OF THE RED KEEP FIRST AND WITHOUT A HELMET ON. TYWIN'S ARMY CONSUMES THE BEACH AND STANNIS SOMEHOW ESCAPES SOON AFTERWARD.

HE FELL TO HIS KNEES, HIS WOUND SMOKING, TEARS ROLLING DOWN...

Wait.

Wrong book.

Wildfire is magic now? I always figured it was Westerosi's version of Greek fire. Something that can be made without magic especially considering the Mad King ordered a ton to be made in a time where magic was pretty dead. Come on, even most of

Finally have a moment to hack out a few thoughts on last night's episode, S2E9 Blackwater.

This one was all about King's Landing and the titular battle. We didn't check in with Snow, Arya, Dany, Robb, Catelyn, Jaime, Littlefinger, or Theon at all. That really worked to the narrative's advantage though, as we got alternating scenes out on the walls in the thick of the fight and inside the holdfast where the women and children were hiding. Sansa & Cersei's interaction was a welcome respite from the chaos out in the night; they were an unexpected highlight of the episode. Next part will spoil through A Clash of Kings and Season 2: Episode 9.

I expect next week's to catch us up on all the aforementioned characters' story lines, especially Dany and the House of the Undying. We'll see where that leaves us for Season 3. Here's the preview:

I do know that wildfire was based on dragon fire but having magic within them? Perhaps. I know for sure that the ones Bronn set off was the newer stuff... still seemed pretty damn powerful but what isn't when pack together like that? I suppose how powerful wildfire is measured if it can melt stone and how well if it can.

Eh. Magic.

In the books the magical link is pretty clear. Production of Wildfire is slow and difficult but increases dramatically with the arrival and growth of the Dragons much to the pyromancers' delight. Everything in the series, The Wall, the White Walkers, the Dragons, Wildfire, all seem to be linked to magic. Not sure if one of them is causing the magic levels to increase and thus affecting all the others or if there is some external force like a solar flare increasing the magical background radiation.

Seems to me that it's tinged with magical properties but clearly based on Greek fire. Martin's fantastical worlds tend to take the real and simply exaggerate it. The Wall is based on the Roman wall in England, just 100x as big and made of ice, etc.

How far into ADWD does the book overtake the events of AFFC?

500-600 pages in?

Anyways, P4, I'm not getting your point. We're not talking about real life or exaggeration of it. We're talking purely within the lore here. Hell, I could make the argument that the "how" of exaggerated of things is magic.
