danielpholt
I hate to be 'that' guy, but i'd advise everyone to read the books before the show. As good as the TV show is, i just don't think it can match the books for depth of character, world building etc etc. Frankly i'd be a little lost if i hadn't read what was going on. On the show side though. Next season should be insane.
Chewblaha
I agree with Daniel about reading the books before the show. JC: I never spoiled that. I wrote half a line and that was after I had been referring to something else. I was trying to fake spoil.
TCP
300 pages into A Storm of Swords: Maybe it's because I don't really know what's going to happen next this time, but I am really enjoying this book. Even Sam's first chapter was interesting. Tywin Lanister is a total dick, but I like his idea of marrying Tyrion and Sansa.

TCP
Book 3 spoilers: Got to The Red Wedding last night. Holy shit!! Holy shit!! I knew that was coming, but I always figured Robb would go down in a battle or something. And Arya! She was so close. Good cliff hanger for her, though I spoiled it for myself and looked ahead to find more Arya chapters. I did spend most of this book wondering how this was going to add one season of a TV show but that's clearly episode 9 or 10. Now, can someone hurry up and kill Joffrey??

danielpholt
I had to re-read that entire chapter just to make sure i didn't miss anything. I wasn't prepared for it, so until it truly went bat sh*t i had no idea. As for Arya, that girl is tough. With the way the Author worded it, i was sure she was a gonna. Mal
Have any of you guys read the Hedge Knight and such? I really want to but they're expensive as fuck.
P4: Gritty Reboot
I was contemplating just acquiring the PDFs until they release a reasonably priced compilation. I don't usually like to do that though.
MasterDex
I listened to the audiobooks of them, they're quite entertaining but they're neither as deep or as serious as the main series.
Mal
From what I heard, while they're not as epic of scale as the mains series but it does add a ton of backstory to ASoIF to the point that it hints at what the hell is going to happen/happened in the mains series.
MasterDex
It certainly fills in some blanks and the backdrop is similar to that of ASOIAF but I didn't see anything that would explain what's going to happen in the main series. Then again, I might have just missed it.
Faiblesse Des Sens
Funny, you guys could be describing the recent game from what I've heard about it... it's been at least a month. Is there anything reliable written up on the game? I was relying on a few reviews and 4chan threads and honestly it was blowing my mind a bit what was revealed about 20 hours into the game. TCP
600 pages into AFFC: It's great finally seeing characters who've never met before, interacting... like Sam with Bran and later, unknowingly, with Arya. Or even smaller things like the dwarf that Brienne met, popping up (albiet just his head) in a Cersei chapter. Speaking of Cersei, her chapters are a fucking drag to read, I hate her attitude. Asha is starting to end up the only Greyjoy I like, at least she has some common sense.

Sometime in 2014 is the soonest that TWOW will come out. GRRM will surely deliver...
TCP
2014 sounds a little optimistic, but I hope I'm wrong.
danielpholt
What does everyone think to the news that Ramsey Bolton will be played by Iwan Rheon? If you don't know, he played Simon in Misfits. I'm not sure on the casting myself, but I was impressed with the actor in his time on Misfits.
Chewblaha
'' He looks like he can have the really brutish features that Ramsay has. The big face with the square jaw. His eyes look naturally pale as well, not white, but pale enough.
MasterDex
I thought he was great in The Misfits so I'm hoping for the same here.
TCP
So I just got to the a certain chapter, fairly early on in ADWD, featuring everyone's favourite Imp... and all I got to say is. Aegon VI being alive is kind of a big deal, but the way GRRM handled it was strange. You'd think that reveal might be, at least, a chapter ending. Instead it was mentioned briefly, and then moved on to Tyrion getting attacked and ended with him drowning, when you know he's not actually going to die, yet. Also hey! Reek is Theon. Cool.
