I accidentally read the first sentence of the second spoilers. Oh well, it didn't spoil anything that I didn't assume was going to happen.

As for this episode:

The combination of his confidence followed by his screams during his death, good lord that really struck a chord with me. This episode had me yelling at the screen more than any other episode. Probably because I watched it before any spoilers could some how make it out to me.

I wouldn't consider it spoilish for folks who have watched the episode.

But yes, the screams. Good lord. When I read the books, I don't hear or imagine screams... so this shit is intense. The worse was Cat's screams and to an extent Ellaria's. I've heard that kind of screams before. It stops you.

That episode was mind blowing.

Oberyn in the books never stuck out for me, but the actor portraying him in the show was great.

Next episode spoilers:

Wildling Battle? Or will they save that for episode 10? Episode 9 usually tends to be the most exciting, so hopefully....

Next episode should be...

The Battle of the Wall. I wonder how they will do it since in the book they fucking shot arrows at each other, even the Wildings 700 feet to the ground.

I'm so pumped for it. Book/next episode spoiler.

STANNIS THE MANNIS!

Oberyn for me stuck out for the simple reason he's Elia's brother. The guy was trying to stir up another conflict after the sacking of King's Landing. But my man Doran, chilled him out.

I'm sad that we will never see Oberyn and Doran together.

It seems hard to imagine that someone hasn't mentioned it in here, but my thread search didn't reveal anything, so here is a link to the Escapist "Game of Thrones Abridged" series.

Sorry to be Mr. Years-Late, but I only started watching a month or two ago. I'm deciding to forego the books, as I'm quite enjoying having all of the twists of the show work on me. When it's all over I'll dig into them. In the meantime, I'll just have to carefully traverse the internet to avoid any (more, as Joffrey's death is the spoiler that made me finally start watching so as to avoid any more) spoilers.

And yeah, Oberyn was awesome, and as has already been said, it was kind of uncomfortable to witness that horrific death. The exploding head helped, at least, as it made it a little less realistic.

I'm not sure if tags were necessary for that...

Last week's episode. Kinda saw that outcome...but done that way. Ho-ly sheeeeeeeeit. He'd been kinda one-note to me but I think his scene in the episode before that was really well played ("This is not a monster")

This week's episode. Ultimately, felt a bit like 'we' got off lightly. Maybe it was more impactful in the books (particularly that one bit) but it did seem like it was pulling its punches somewhat. Can't really complain though. Thrilling episode. Giant arrows and scythes and hammered heads.

Hard for me to give a crap about John Snow at the moment with the Tyrion's little neck hanging in the balance. I enjoyed the episode despite that though.

Also despite Ygritte's anticlimactic death.

Totally unrelated, my friend forwarded me this, which I thought was pretty neat.

There were possibilities totally outside the realm of cheese too - and the cheese was definitely a problem here, especially when he embraced her corpse in the middle of a battle that I thought was hugely important for the fate of humanity just 15 seconds prior. I guess I just felt like the show was really peddling an explosive and/or somehow pivotal confrontation between the two that I was actually starting to buy and get excited for. If the book teased it as hard, I'm not sure I would have enjoyed (though I'd likely have respected) that outcome (as I've had it briefly described to me) very much more. I don't know, I just found it a little weird that I was more moved and excited by Pip's death than Ygritte's, especially considering the fact that I was hoping she'd be around longer. I guess everyone's departure isn't going to be spectacular.

The show probably could have done a better job setting up who the Children of the Forest are and who Bloodraven is. Also, Tyrion's backstory with his wife would have helped explain his motivations a little bit better, but it still worked. Overall I liked the season and I liked the scenes they added in, like Brienne and Arya last night and Bran at Craster's Keep a few episodes back.

The interesting thing is, Bran is about halfway through his ADWD stuff, Sansa is mostly done her AFFC material as well. Book purists are going to riot when the TV show starts moving past the books for some story lines next season. Unless GRRM can get The Winds of Winter out in the next 10 months??

TWOW is supposed to drop in 2015, perhaps before the next season airs. At least, that was last time I checked a month or so ago.

There have already been several things in the show that go beyond the books; Jojen's death, and the Night's King reveal.

I just hope next season doesn't turn into AFFC, the TV show.

Well, it's my understanding season 5 will be AFFC and the vastly superior ADWD.

Book spoilers and season 5 leaks be ahead :

Yeah, every time we saw Danny this season at court, part of me died knowing how much more of this is coming. And the fighting pits, oh fuck, I do not want to hear about the fighting pits.

Looks like there could be other big changes, the teenage girl from Lost has auditioned for the role of Obara Sand, and her audition tape leaked online, with mentions of Jaime visiting Dorne in place of Balon Swann. He could spend the first half of the season in Dorne, before going to the Riverlands and hopefully crossing paths with Lady Stoneheart.

Lena Headey played us like a harp. Season 5/book spoiler.

No Lady Stoneheart.

Oh well. It'll come. 2CsbIth.jpg

Well played...

Anyways, overall I thought it was great finale. It kept alive theories which is nice.

Sandor has a chance to still be alive (CLEGANE BOWL, GET HYPED) and I think Jojen Paste is kind of confirmed.

Just watched the finale last night. Now keep in mind that I have yet to read the books (almost finished 1 before I even knew there was going to be a TV show, but I lost it and refused to buy another copy).

First off I'm glad to see Bran's story become something better, although I still find it frustrating. There was a lot of "You'll know when you get there" and "we aren't going to tell you EXACTLY what we're doing, but trust us stranger" going on for me to even care through out most of it.

As for the actual good stuff

Watching Tyrion kill Tywin was just great. I loved how little Tyrion spoke to his father, it was just cold which is how it should've been.

Seeing the Hound die while trying to protect Arya was saddening to me, but Arya has become an awesome character.

I also have no idea what is going to happen with Jamie and Cercei now that they decided to admit it to stay together and their father is dead not forcing any marriages.

Jojen's death is confirmed. I think the way he died actually casts a lot of doubt on the Jojen paste theory.

Book-wise, it is still possible. He was heavily injured but disappeared along with Meera and Hordor. I might be wrong with Meera and Hordor but it is likely Jojen in the book is dead and with what Bran ate... Jojen Paste.

Ah, but we didn't see him die...

Also, it seems all the cool people might be congregating in Braavos.

GET HYPED
