Faiblesse Des Sens
Well the first season is over now.
Nexus
Yes, but you're suggesting doing a book discussion, you've only read books 1 and 2. We can't talk about 3 and 4, but it's difficult not to. Â I'm re reading AFFC atm, it's a lot better on the second read.
Faiblesse Des Sens
More so I'm suggesting changing the title to match the whole series, but I'm still all for being very specific with spoilers (mentioning what you are talking about first.) Mal
In other news: Â With this in the background, I think I will buy the books for me to read on the plane since you guys rave about the books so much. Besides, the theme is awesome.
Nexus
Yes but I'm not saying it's as easy as that just to label a spoiler as a "ACOK spoiler" or a "AFFC spoiler." The timelines jump around so much that it's hard to separate events sometimes.
indyit
ah crap was so glad to see a thread on game of thrones to discuss it a bit, but havent read the books yet and im seeing that book spoilers are coming out... and dangnabbit there should really be two different threads one for the books and one for the series or something cause I did just spoil myself a bit >_< (i have myself to blame but still.) toxicitizen
Finally started watching this. Only on episode 3 so far, but holy shit is everything perfect (well, except for Jason Momoa as Khal Drogo... ) Â The only thing that bugs me a bit is things seem to be moving way too fast, but that's inevitable when trying to condense such a long book into 10 hours, I guess. Â Once I'm done watching, I think I'll have to finally get back to the books. It's been like two years since I read A Clash of Kings, though. Probably gonna have to read a summary on wiki to refresh my memory. Edited August 28, 2011 by FLD
Mal
Drogo should of had a much longer beard. Think something like Guan Yu's...

Chewblaha
And don't read a wiki summary. If, for whatever reason, you're looking for a summary, the best goddamn ASoIaF website/encyclopedia is towerofthehand.com  Great website with a great community, too. Chewblaha
It even has a scope meter, so It'll hide important information from you about what happens to characters in certain books and even lists what characters may have said about specific events in the bottom. P4: Gritty Reboot
Yeah... so just finished book one. I'm still a little in shock from the endings to the various storylines; I guess when you're used to cliche fantasy tropes, the twists and turns that Martin takes you down can be a little startling. Overall, an amazing read though. Now I just need to get Clash of Kings...
toxicitizen
Had a 2 hours break between classes yesterday so I found myself a spot in the grass and started reading A Storm of Swords. Watching the tv show only 2 weeks ago probably helped, but it sucked me right back in from the very first page. Of course, now I'm fucked if I want to remember how I originally pictured the characters. The actors have completely overwritten my imagination. Â I seriously need to read that Clash of Kings recap, though. I realized while watching the show that I remember very little of it, and starting Storm made that all the more painfully clear. A chapter started, and when they referred to something that had happened in the previous book, I went "Wait, what? That happened?!" It's weird but I remembered book 1 much more clearly than book 2, and I read them about 3 and 2 years ago respectively. Â Oh well, done with school for the day and I've got another 2 hours break tomorrow, so I better get started on that recap. P4: Gritty Reboot
Some new screens for the Official Game of Game of Thrones. Mal
The Wall looks like a wall, not a pile of rock and ice? I'm guessing the Night's Watch of old could have had kept it that way... Â Seems like one of those cheap cash in games but we'll see. Main reason is the game is taking place many many years before the books. So it might be good. Chewblaha
That game looks baed. Â FLD. Trust me and read Tower of the Hand's recap. It'll still take a while, but it's so useful.
P4: Gritty Reboot
Thanks for the Tower of the Hand reference. It's really great. Â I'm a little concerned because the Amazon book reviews indicate the books get progressively worse. Any truth in that?
Mal
I'm on the 3rd book and I think its still great. If I recall hearing correctly, it just gets grim dark. It also might be reader fatigue kicking in since there are five books currently and they are all pretty damn long. They seem to get longer with each book. It also may suffer from what Harry Potter did... it just takes so long to get the next book and by then your expectations are pretty damn high to the point that they can't be reached. Â I personally read on for Tyrion, Dany, Jon and Arry. Some of the side characters parts are really nice too for example... want to read what is going on in the head of another Lannister? Keep at it and take breaks. Currently I am on a month long break, only reading one chapter every so often. I find myself thinking of the story every now and then to slowly process all the information from the first two books... which I killed in 2-3 weeks for both.
