That controller is fucking awful.

they took a complete 180. The Wiimote was so small and comfortable, one of the only controllers you could play with one hand, now this. Ugh. Im not a fan. I hope theres a REALLY good reason for that screen at that size and I hope even THIRD parties will use it to its full potential and not just tack on some lame shit like stats or maps.

Im not going to be proven wrong, am i?

Ugh......

Its an interesting concept but that controller... I don't think anybody would of thought it would be that big. Still, I'm impressed with the streaming of the such a big video. If its in crisp HD quality, even more so.

Its just the sheer size of that controller is the big "WTF?" part. I guess we'll see how it rolls.

Also, looks like Nintendo is finally having a good core of more darker games?

They focused quite a bit on the controller. I would have liked to see a little more focus on the actual console itself and how it will work. No price announced, either.

Nintendo's show was decent, but I wouldn't say they knocked it out of the park. Better than Microsoft, at least. Overall, I think Sony probably had the best show.

There's definitely potential though, and while some games might be ports, the "features" of the new console and new controller may have a benefit or two. Hard to say right now.

That's the new console, which from a distance looked like another Wii. That's what had me confused when they were showing all that video footage.

So... this is basically the console they should've released back in 2006? Good for them, I guess.

Now they'll also get the games we've all been playing for the past few years.

The new controller has potential, of course. But it's like the size of a fucking tablet pc.

I'm surprised it kept the Wii name, though. I'd say it seems unlike Nintendo, but we just got the 3DS.

The name does carry some brand recognition for all the non-gamers who bought a Wii, I guess.

But I don't think those people are ready to buy a new system so soon.

But like the 3DS it doesn't really feel like a new gen to me (unless you account for the fact that the Wii was kind of a gen behind).

But the 3DS and this both feel more like upgrades to existing systems than true successors.

Kind of strange that they would neglect to put up a full-sized picture of the damn thing.

And the feature set of the ports will have to be more than just menus or maps on the controller. They have to win back a lot of people who feel burned by the wii, including myself. If the developers can truly find a way to use that controller to make Wii U games into experiences that can't be duplicated on the PS3 or 360 versions, I'll be willing to give it a shot, but it remains to be seen.

I don't buy that "generation" behind load. The Wii is still a seventh generation console, and if anything (like Reggie said), the Wii brought motion controls to the industry which Sony and Microsoft eventually picked up. At least Microsoft had the decency to innovate, but then again, we saw where the Kinect is just yesterday.

The mods for it are at least amazing, even if Microsoft doesn't fully approve.

Definitely a lot of potential for the Wii U controller there, but I remain skeptical concerning what developers will do with it. There was no big "BAM" announcement either, like, "Oh yeah. And GTAV will be an exclusive launch title. What now?" I'm not gonna hate on it, but we definitely have heard these promises before that weren't followed through on to their full potential.

In terms of horsepower, it is behind, though.

It's only slightly more powerful than the GameCube.

I'm not saying it wasn't innovative or anything like that. But it's a fact that its hardware is weak in comparison to the other current-gen systems.
