TheFlyingGerbil
I'm guessing it's just set up incorrectly, or maybe it was a video of the game, not the game itself? Maybe they need to buy a monster cable for it. Oh, and don't worry, TCP, neck tubes are definitely not hipster. The only scarves that annoy me are the houndstooth ones with the tassled edges. Men wear those all year, and I pretty much auto-hate anyone I see with one.

TheFlyingGerbil
My monster cable is the best £90 I ever spent. it makes my pictures so HD.
CorgiShinobi
About Mass Effect: No, not necessarily a major title, but EA does tend to spread their properties wide. Given how much praise (minus ending backlash) ME3 received, I'm sure it was a no-brainer to put the title on the Wii U the same year. Maybe it wouldn't make sense, but then again making a profit doesn't always have to, but if enough people bit down on ME3, we could see the trilogy ported to the Wii U. If they were concerned about a lack of interest given consumers already have the third game, but a unique two-game pack like we've seen on the PS3. Then again, I don't speak for EA. On Monster Cable: NO. I still remember the day my father spent $90 on an HDMI cable. When I kept trying to convince him there were cheaper options, NOPE! He's very much convenience over price at times when it comes to new technology. He does have the finance for it, but it pains me to see him spend that much. Sure, it's a great cable, but I would never had paid $90 for it.

TheMightyEthan
http://www.joystiq.com/2013/01/04/rumor-used-wii-us-let-you-download-previous-users-games/ Apparently if you buy a used Wii U you can download any games purchased by the previous owner, even if all their accounts have been deleted off the machine. That seems like a pretty massive oversight on Nintendo's part.
CorgiShinobi
Maybe a firmware update could resolve this issue, if true? I dunno, and it's moments like this (previously Friend Codes) that make me say, "Nintendo, it's alright if you follow suit with Sony and Microsoft. Lord knows how they've done so to you in the past."
TheFlyingGerbil
If they'd just link your effing downloads to you effing ID this would not be a problem - they are solving a problem that doesn't even exist with a solution that is worse than the perceived (but actually non-existent) problem! SO EFFING EFF.
TheFlyingGerbil
Just a heads up, there is now a ZombiU demo in the eShop for anyone wanting to give it a try. It's 1649mb and seems to be downloading at a reasonable speed, giving an estimate of under 30 mins, I think that's as fast as I'd get anything on my laptop.
TheMightyEthan
Nintendo is merging its handheld and console divisions, and tasking the new merged group with developing next-gen hardware. You heard it here first: the Wii U 2 will have the tablet act as a stand-alone handheld when not within range of the base station, allowing you to play all your games on the handheld or the TV seamlessly.
Mal
Perhaps we can see it in five years which can allow Nintendo to work around Sony and Microsoft. Those two can dance around each other in their cycle and Nintendo can dance solo. Five years also can mute any sting for any early adopters of the Wii U. deanb
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-01-16-moderately-misleading-wii-u-ad-removed Wii U advert has been banned in the UK. tbh until this cropped up in my twitter feed I didn't actually know the "one watches on TV while you play Wii U on Gamepad" was only available in a few games. It should be easy enough to sort out with a bit of "Feature only available in some games" small print on the advert like the iPhone "video sped up" stuff. TheMightyEthan
It seems like that same reasoning could be used to ban ads showing Kinect's "Better with Kinect" voice-command features because not every single Xbox game supports them. deanb
I dunno how it is in the US but the games that are "better with Kinect" are specifically labeled as such Same with Move Thus, especially as it's an add-on, it's safe to assume that not all games available on X360 and PS3 work with Kinect and Move. As best I can tell there's no such labeling, even on the back of the boxes, that state games work with this TV/Gamepad switching feature. Cyber Rat
I actually didn't know that Wii U feature was only for specific games... They made it seem like it was for every title.
TheMightyEthan
It's weird that it's not on the back of the box.
CorgiShinobi
Did a quick Google search of what some Wii U titles say on the back, on while there's a lot of significant information, you'd think they could spare some room to say something like "GamePad Remote Play Compatible" or what tickles their fancy. They use to do that with an icon for Progressive Screen on GameCube titles.
Mister Jack
It seems like that same reasoning could be used to ban ads showing Kinect's "Better with Kinect" voice-command features because not every single Xbox game supports them. If you ask me, labeling it "Better with Kinect" is false advertising in itself.
CorgiShinobi
Essentially it is puffery, a.k.a. subjective view rather than fact. And that was your random fact from Mr. Literal!
TheFlyingGerbil
at work for tomorrows Nintendo Direct. Anyone have any clue what its about? Their last pokemon one was certainly a bolt out of the blue (at least to me) so I hope it's something good.
TCP
HD GCN/Wii virtual console games, plus virtual console games playable on Gamepad.

TheMightyEthan
I'm hoping for DS games on the Wii U eShop.
TCP
HEY! My predictions were right! Wind Waker, a GCN game is coming in HD, and the Wii U virtual console will launch with Gamepad support. Also: apparently GBA games are going to the Wii U VC (but not the 3DS?) which is a step in the right direction of getting DS games. Also also: we won't have to pay full price to transfer Wii VC console games to the Wii U part of the system. I don't get that, at all. I mean I guess it's better than paying 5 dollars for Super Metroid again but if they can track our purchases why do we have to pay again at all? Besides, you know.... greed. Surely there's not that much programming to add Gamepad support?
