Games that you hate that everyone else seems to like

I'm with ya; sports games are, broadly, at least divisive amongst gamers and so don't fit into the 'games that everyone else seems to like' category. Indeed, on gaming boards and fora it seems that many people hate sports games as a category.

Oh, and to add another game that everyone likes but that I hate: the GT series. I do not care for it at all.

GT was a good series. I didn't enjoy four too much, and I didn't get five for Christmas, but one through three were very enjoyable. I only had GT for about three months when I got my PSOne. One of the hardest games EVER.

I can't say I hate too many games, but what doesn't help is when people gush over a certain one and foam at the mouth for me to try it. At first I didn't care for Fallout 3 because my best friend would bug me about getting it. Though to be far, I would do the same to him as well.

It's the general "OMG, try this" that usually puts me off to a game. In my own time I may find it and enjoy it, but that's up to me and no one else. I think that's the main reason why I haven't given Uncharted a chance, that there's so much gushing over the series.

I think you are interpreting "different" as "good". Half-Life was a new (and much needed) step for FPS's, but it wasn't very good. At least it was better than Half-Life 2 though. The same can be said for Heavy Rain and Red Dead Redemption. They were both bad games that need to exist in order to advance the medium.

Half-Life was awesome. Heavy Rain had problems and Red Dead Redemption may have just been GTA with horses but it was super pretty and fun too. If you're not having fun with these games then you just aren't trying.

I had fun with RDR for all the reasons why I had fun with GTA3 - just screwing around. The story of RDR was shit, but that's what people praise it for. I was stoked to play RDR, but was let down hour after hour. I even 100% the game, and it was miserable.

You can't honestly say that I'm not trying. I mean, seriously. It's subjective, mang.

I used to play WoW, but I seriously cannot stand like 60% of the players. Mainly because 60% of the players are kids who begged their mom to use their credit card for it. I never wanted to kill someone's character in my own faction as badly as I did in WoW. Dueling, maybe, but I can't make the little fuckers go back to the graveyard and spend ten minutes walking back or suffering resurrection sickness. I also can't stand playing with other girls in this game. Some of them are cool, but others are just WHINY and 'Yeah, I'm reaaaaaal girl playing WoW.' Then me, with my female character, HAS to say: 'There's no such things as girls on WoW. Just old men and little boys' and watch the drama and arguments ensue. I actually used to carry craploads of booze so my character could vomit on these people. Nothing made my tauren happier than spewing all over a blood elf dancing around the auction house.

I can't stand Mario Kart. It's just as random as rolling the dice and I like to at least have a small amount of skill involved in my games.

There's a good amount of skill, it's just that there is a strong luck factor thanks to all the items. If it was all chance, I probably wouldn't place first 9/10 whenever I place with local friends. I mean sure there are times where I get my butt handed to me thanks to a series of items and obstacles, but its in the name of fun.

I'd like to know how many of the really popular, critically acclaimed games people have on their lists they have actually played to completion (fair enough from Gyaruson on RDR).

My flatmate hated, hated on the Gears series for the reasons others have said; that it was 'retarded', 'macho', 'stupid', 'bullshit'. He decided at some point that he was only losing out on potential fun by not trying it, so he bought it (he has a LOT of disposable cash), and now he LOVES the series- for exactly the reasons he gave for hating them.

And how can you hate Uncharted, Yant?! You played them both to completion? I can easily see how the first could be hated, it's a lot rougher and more sparse gameplay-wise than the second, but UC2 is seriously one of the biggest, funniest, most intense, most challenging, and most fun games I've ever played, and that's not even starting on the multiplayer. If you aren't having fun with that then you're definitely not trying.

I don't like LittleBigPlanet too much.

That happened to me for ME1. ME2 was a lot better, but I never tried ME1 again. I just read ME-wiki for all the details.

I seriously just went sprinting from cover to cover boomsticking people. I usually love RPGs, and sci-fi RPGs are one of the best, but ME1 felt so... plasticky.
