Luftwaffles
Giants have been going downhill since they got Beltran, honestly. That being said, I'm not really a Giants fan. I'll stick with my consistently mediocre A's.
TheRevanchist
Beltran isn't the reason. Huff hasn't delivered. We have 2 catchers that can't hit replacing an All Star player. We have very few players that have hit a HR. Our starting 2nd baseman has been out for, basically, the last couple of years, and should probably just retire at this point. 2 starting pitchers are on the DL, along with a key bullpen pitcher and our closer. I'm not even sure how we are just 3 games out right now. I've been to as many A's games as I have Giant's games. I like Suzuki as a catcher, but they have problems they need to address. But they don't want to spend the money. AND, those fuckers took the brisket off of the menu at the BBQ joint inside the park. I was pissed, and had to go to Everett & Jones down in Jack London Square. I'm hungry. Going to the vending machine to see what I can buy for $.55. Luftwaffles
Nah, I don't think Beltran's the reason either. My dad has this theory that he's a "toxic" player and has ruined the chemistry of the team, but I think that's crap too. The Giants just can't put together 3 consistent months of winning ever. They didn't in the playoffs, and they can't really in the regular season. I'm not really a Wilson fan either, so I think they've done better without him. Hell, even I could walk the bases loaded in the 9th every game I pitch. As for the A's, they'll probably scramble everything offseason again so I doubt they'll go out and try and grab a bunch of new players now. They always seem to completely change their team each year yet still end up with pretty much the same record. As for the food at the games, I've always thought Giants games had the better food. Those garlic fries...
TheRevanchist
Garlic fries and the hot dog stand that grills the dogs and onions, not the regular hot dog shops. Those browned onions and the mustard on top of that dog is freakin' amazing. The smell in the car ride home isn't nearly as pleasant. Ha! Mal
I need to go the a game... I'll stick with my consistently mediocre A's. Yeah, someone just doesn't like them... http://oakland.athletics.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?c_id=mlb&content_id=18442835&query=game_pk%3D288855
Chewblaha
Correction: Giants have been going downhill since they lost Buster Posey.
Mal
Don't remind me of the lost of Posey. It for sure felt things changed once he was out from even I, a causal fan. But hey, today reports I heard is that Giants won (2-1) and A's won I think (12-?).
TheRevanchist
It happened after the All Star break. They are still a winning team, just not in a good enough position to take the division right now. Beltran is starting to step up. All we need is Arizona to do what the Rockies did last season: lose. P4: Gritty Reboot
Bummed at the Angels' loss last night. That was a big one. Hope we take the rest of the series vs. Texas.
Yantelope
Suck it Angels! That grand slam was awesome!
Yantelope
7 ERs in 6 innings for Jerrod Weaver and that's why you don't pitch on short rest. Great game.
P4: Gritty Reboot
Love Jered. Great pitcher, but yeah that was a bad game for Anaheim. So, 3 games back after Texas' loss, and 19 to play. In 2004 we were 3 games back with 8 to play and made the playoffs. Hope we can pull it off this time. Yantelope
It's a much tighter race than I would have thought. I don't know what Mike Scoscia puts in the water but it seems like it works...
Yantelope
Okay people, Game 3 starts in less than an hour. Go Rangers! anyone? anyone? Hello?
Luftwaffles
Only series I'm really interested now in is the Cardinals - Phillies one. For some reason I've always liked the Cardinals, even though St. Louis is kind of a shithole of a town, IMO.
Mal
Sure, why not? If I recall last year, they were the ones that lost to the Giants. They're a good team and I think its about time that they win.
Yantelope
Yeah, sadly for the Philies the best team usually doesn't win.
Chewblaha
I hope the Cardinals don't win. The hater in me thrives.

Chewblaha
So am I the only one who has paid attention to Baseball this year?
madbassman39
No, everybody I work with talks baseball so i started to get into it, I've had some amazing tickets for the Giants games from my work, so its been pretty decent. As a former LA resident its hard to watch the dodgers get their rears kicked.
Mal
I watch it somewhat. I just have to catch it.
Luftwaffles
So am I the only one who has paid attention to Baseball this year? Probably. What with Euro 2012, NBA Finals, and the Olympics coming up I'm finding it tough to care about baseball until the Playoffs. Although I'm happy my Oakland A's are doing well-ish, as they always seem to.
TheRevanchist
Baseball is my love. I watch the G-men as much as I can. I listen to KNBR 680 out of the bay area (Giant's flagship station). I loved watching the Dodgers get shutout and swept for the entire series. That was unbelievable! The bats on my team just needs to pickup. I miss posting with Michael Dukakis, as I love a good fan of baseball, even though he's a Mets fan.
Chewblaha
My family just got back from a trip to San Fran. Gots me some sweet Giants hat. I'm size eight on fitted caps (giant) and this hat fits me like a glove. Perfect. Also got a Tim Lincecum jersey shirt and some other things. I'm debating going to the final Cubs game that will take place this year in Houston since they're getting shipped off to the AL next year. They'll still play the Lastros, but I really want to see the final division series. I miss posting with Michael Dukakis, as I love a good fan of baseball, even though he's a Mets fan. Mike will never drop the 17-1 loss we had Monday against the Yets. We still won that series. Edited July 1, 2012 by Chewblaha
