It's not -just- the monocle, the pricing or the surprise that was foisted on the community. It is more about the leaked newsletter, the devblog that spat $1k jeans and virtual goods=real goods bs/pr, and the leaked email. There were questions that were going unanswered by devs about pay ammo, modules, faction standing and ships that could've been serious game-changers. Also, one of the cornerstones of Eve is its' player run market/economy. By sidestepping that, they devalue their own currency tremendously, and somewhat marginalize what the playerbase has been constructing for a long time.Jita_bubd.png

and all I think when I see that picture is "Good God,has EVE gotten prettier these past few years."

Yes, they've made new turret effects and completely revamped ships/effects. Everything has moved over to the Carbon engine.

Also: The amount of unsubs I'm hearing is above 5000 accts. Eve is known for its community having tons of alts. One person unsubbed 27 accts..

it's a pretty clear indication that a majority of the players are not happy with CCP.

It's more an indication of a vocal minority than it is any majority. The server population tends to sit around 30-40k and CCP have previously used the number 300,000 when talking about active subscriptions.

I think the best chance of anyone getting into Eve is to start with other people. Playing Eve alone is not only hard as hell but it's boring as hell too. I've been looking into reactivating my account and I'm sure there are other Eve players here so perhaps trying to synchronise subscriptions at some point and starting a corp together would be a good way for people to see what all the raving is about.

I've got 4 newbies I'm helping out, and Moose just started a Corp. It's actually super newbie friendly. If anyone is looking into trying eve out, pm me your email so I can send you a 21 day trial.

Yea, I admit when I tried it way back when I wasn't expecting it too be particularly enjoyable. However, within 2 days or so I was cruising around in a Cormorant cruiser. Which surprised even me.

I've never really been a fan of the Minmatar vessels. My original pre-Trinity Gallente main was only able to fly Gallente ships, but I grew tired of their fittings. I had been training the Caldari I rolled last year to fly all the vessels, but stopped with the frigs at frig III to focus on being more effective at shield tanking in Caldari ships. Pretty keen on my Caracal fitting for level 2 care-bearing with the Caldari Navy though.

The Cormorant is the Caldari Destroyer, not one of the Caldari Cruisers. :)

Eh, I'm not one to care much for classifications. I had to travel through like 15 star systems to grab it, and then had to travel back the same way. It took quite a while to get there, and I was rather shocked when I found out that my old ship would be left at the station where I bought the Cormorant. I decided to take my starter ship there, which meant that it would take even longer.

All in all, I think it took me over an hour to get there and back.

How does 15 jumps take over an hour? (Maybe I've just forgotten how long it takes to go through that many systems, but over an hour still seems excessive.) It also doesn't make much of a difference what ship you use (unless it's a damn freighter or something, those take ages just to align to wherever they're warping) unless you're traveling through really huge solar systems. If it's just a few AU to warp to, then your ship's warp speed is pretty moot, but if you're traveling 50+ AU to from stargate to stargate THEN I could see how your starter frigate would take a lot longer to get there.

Also, were you autopiloting or using "warp to 0m"?

Fairly certain I was using warp to 0m, and that it took forever. :P

I do remember jumping around 140+ AU through a single star system. It was quite a distance from the starting zone, and like I said I was using my starting ship (which I had basically stripped of all equipment to put onto the Cormorant) and my energy drives weren't large enough to cover the distance in a single jump.

140+? Maker... That would explain why it took awhile. Sometimes in those desolate systems it can seem like you're warping forever.
