360 controller IS perfect.

 

It's pretty good... For me it'd finish second (I voted Gamecube). The 360 D-Pad is AWFUL!

Gamecube controller is my all time favorite. All it needs is a larger Z.

 

Runner up is the 360 controller. Although that D-pad's mere presence just ruins the whole thing for me.

Agreed the d-pad blows on the 360 pad, it just doesn't bother me much because I almost never play games that require anything more than just using it to switch equipment/activate a flashlight/etc. Though I was able to play Sonic 1, 2 and 3 with it just fine.

A 360 controller with 4 extra buttons and many times the price. A Razer one of course. Dunno what freaks of nature they use for hand reference in designing their products. I imagine the d-pad is likely better than normal though.

I actually saw this and thought "ooh that will be great to use on my PC!" Then I saw the price. I was only interested in it because of the D-pad, but now I'm not interested at all.

The video on that page scares me. The rear buttons seems fine but the top two seems kind of odd to get to.

I like it! Playing Witcher 2 and having to keep going to a menu for map or inventory gets old real fast. A few extra buttons for quicksaving/quickloading sounds good too.

 

I dunno. I might be in their target demographic. I like a lot of Razer stuff.

 

As for the shoulder buttons, looks like a normal 360 controller to me. Might be slightly higher, I can't tell for sure.

I must be the only 360 fanboy who doesn't have an issue with the DS3's triggers.

 

Now the DS3's sticks?  Don't get me started on the sticks.

I like the triggers on the DS3. Granted I don't really do FPS on them, but they suit me find for stuff like FIFA. 

 

That said, the sticks are godawful. I agree on that.

The sticks are bad until you get used to them, and don't touch the 360 controller for a long while. Mean while I think the PS3 triggers are superior for driving games, but less so for shooting.

I actually like the sticks on the Vita better than the DS3, which I feel like says something.  Tiny little handheld sticks should not be better than a full controller.

I actually bought a couple of wired 360 controllers on sale a year or so ago because I know that eventually my controllers will break and I at the time wasn't sure if the successor controller would be as good or if it would be so easily compatible with PC games.  They're still sitting in their boxes in my closet, waiting for the day that the one I currently use on my PC gives out.

I did the same. Turns out my wireless Monochrome Xbox Controller went to hell during my move and I opened up my wired controller for my 360, and the other for my PC.

I should stock up but I suppose it is kind of a moot point now since I can easily connect my DS3 controller now (if I have a bluetooth receiver). I imagine the PS4 controller can continue the trend but... that 360 controller form...

Both the PS4 and Xbox One controllers are improvements. PS4 apparently worked right away when plugging it into a computer according to some indie dev. I definitely saw indie devs using the controller at PAX for PC setups.

I'm really liking it so far but I want to put in more time with the XB1 controller which felt nice the few times I got to use it at PAX.

I haven't put my hands on an Xbone controller yet but I'd be surprised if I like it AS much, even if it is better than the 360 one.

Thoughts on the DS4:

 

The sticks were really my only complaint with the DS3, but on the DS4 the are damn near perfect.  They're at least as good as the 360's sticks, and maybe better (which is high praise from me, because I thought the 360's sticks were perfect).

 

The triggers are still a little too gummy, but it doesn't actually bother me, and other than that the only thing I would change is make the face buttons more like the d-pad: less noisy click, more tactile click.  I even got used to the location of the options button much quicker than I thought I would (at first I kept hitting the touch pad).

 

It felt a little weird to hold at first, because you can't quite palm it like the 360 controller but you also can't really hold it in just your fingers like the DS3.  After playing for a while though it settled into my hand and now feels quite natural.

 

*Edit* - Still not sure if I'm ready to change my vote from 360 to the DS4, but it's definitely a contender.
