So, I never thought about this before it was posted here and recently this week I was playing on my PS3 and noticed that I do hold the PS3 remote in my fingers and not in my palms as it feels natural that way. I also think that is probably why I don't like it as much as the xbox controller because I prefer to palm my controller but palming the DS3 is no bueno.

Also, The Wii Classic controller pisses me off for the complete lack of nubs. What were they thinking?

Yeah, I could never find a comfortable way to hold my PSP for the same reason. I'm not retarded enough to try to palm it, but even in just your fingers there's nothing to grip, especial because in some games you index fingers have to remain on the shoulder buttons which means they can't be used to hold the thing.

Yeah, I understand why they're not there, but they need to do something to make them easier to hold. I haven't used a Vita, but a large part of the problem with the PSP was that it was so heavy that the normal grip I use for like holding my phone sideways or holding a DS doesn't work because it slides down.

*Edit* - A rubberized surface would actually probably help a lot, so it wouldn't slide as easily.

As far as the Classic Controller, I think the Classic Controller Pro was partially built with that in mind too.

Speaking of Nintendo controllers, the GameCube controller (as I fixed one last night).

It gets a lot of flak, but a problem that's valid is how cheap it is inside. I had the pleasure, for the second time, of having a GCN controller's B button becoming mush. I didn't have to replace anything, but the problem was that the rubber pad inside was warped for the B button. All it took was stretching it a bit to get it back in form.

Though, in the 11 years I've had the controller, I never realized how the Y button was curved towards your thumb. That's actually pretty good since you have to extend your thumb forward.

I had the A button become mush on my GCN controller. I was pretty sad considering how Nintendo stuff is usually top notch. The other all time great Nintendo fail (besides the system itself) is the stand for the virtual boy. A stand made entirely of metal except for the cheap plastic part that holds it all together. Grrrrrrrr.

I had a similar experience. I was mostly playing on my PS3, and was wondering why everyone was making such a fuss complaining about it's controller. Going over to the 360 for a few games and I didn't particularly feel it was better but then I went straight back to the PS3 where I usually have a bit of a gap I could barely bear to have it in my hands. It felt cheap and nasty and a lot less comfortable. I also had the problem, which strangely only seems to occur in Assassin's Creed of my thumb gradually sliding up the stick if I run for too long. It's pretty annoying when you're just about to catch someone and you have to come to a standstill to reposition your thumb.

I don't know if this makes it my favourite but the only controller I don't remember having anything to complain about was the gamecube controller.

The 360 pad fills my fucking giant hands and gives me good weight to back it up. I like the sticks, the triggers, and the buttons have never been a problem with me. I don't use the D-Pad often.

I just can't hold a DS well anymore. Back when original DS was out, it fit perfectly for me. Now it's just too light and small. My thumbs crash into each other on the analog sticks and I can never get a good grip on the current L2/R2. The DS/DS2 were much better than the DS3.

N64 pad has always been great for my hands, as well as the Dreamcast. The Gamecube controller, while it has a neat layout, is too small for my hands.

With all that being said...

The Duke is the only controller that I've never had a single damn problem with.

Don't worry. I'm the only guy who voted for The Duke.

My only problem with the Duke came from when I used to use the Southpaw control setup with Halo, and I was pretty much unable to throw a grenade + run at the same time unless I dislocated a finger or two.

Otherwise, I found it to be an acceptable controller (though I do admit the current XBox 360 controller is damn near perfect).

That was me. I love the Saturn controller! Six buttons on the front! And THEN the shoulder ones!

Muy bueno.

Seriously... Maybe I'm only looking at it from a fighting game perspective, but the damn thing was perfect.

And we won't talk about that analog deal they brought out... which, while serviceable, looked like it ate too much food at a buffet.

I'm good with an arcade stick... if its attached to an arcade cabinet.

I'm terrible with one in my lap, on the table, etc... I need it bolted down and attached to something permanent, while I stand up and play with it (that should not be used out of context).

I don't have the room/patience/resources to do such a thing, so a controller with all the buttons I need on the front was the perfect solution (thank you Sega).
