I saw at least one other person picked up Terran Conflict during the steam sale. I picked this game up mostly because one of my friends is completely addicted to it. Apparently it's pretty complicated but it's also supposed to be very great if you can get into it. Anybody play this game? I'm probably going to be looking for some tips soon.

I had a little spin with it today, having pretty much forgotten everything I knew about how to play these games a while ago. Spent most of the time trying to blow up a solar power plant by hiding inside it and getting the Argon forces to shoot at it while trying to shoot at me. Blew myself up, a lot.

I found a guide for new players which is really helpful, although where I found it I have no idea.

A few sites seem to suggest ignoring the flight tutorial as it's apparently pretty crap, so the list of controls spread through out that are pretty neat, although here's a TLDR;

Thrusters; W,A,S,D

Accelerate; X

Decelerate; Z

Full Speed; ~

Full Stop; Backspace

Pitch & Yaw; Up, Down, Left, Right

Toggle Mouse Flight; Space

Shift + D = Dock with target.

Shift + T = Target nearest hostile.

Left Click = Target selection.

(Home & End scroll through targets)

CTRL/Right Mouse = Fire Weapons

M = Select Missile

L = Launch Missile

Interior View modes; F1

Exterior View modes; F2

(Num keys rotate views)

I got quite frustrated trying to start as a trader though, as you begin with two ships. I could switch between them in space and get either of them to follow the other okay, but for the life of me I couldn't get a second to dock with stations after docking in the other.

Ah, X3: Terran Conflict. The only game that actually gave me difficulties when I pirated it. Found a work-around, though. Wasn't really worth it, though.

Now I recently got X3: Gold on Steam. I'll probably never have the time to play it now, but it looks really interesting.
