Battra92
For the last few days I've been playing Super Mario Brothers Rebirth. I've been playing it straight through and the only Game Genie code I used was infinite lives. I am resisting using Emulator Save states because I feel they are more cheating than having an infinite amount of tries.) While these definitely fall outside of what is considered kosher and totally lawful, I do wonder why when so many hacks of the original SMB1 exist, Nintendo has never tried to capitalize via WiiWare or the Virtual Console. Heck, even the cart based releases on the GBA contained no extra levels Anyway, what are some of your favorite ROM hacks, level edits, etc. What do you like or not like about them? RockyRan
I really like the ROM hacks that just use the existing assets and build new, creative levels around them. I HATE the hacks whose creators think they're good enough to make their own sprites and music, only to look horribly out of place and make the entire thing seem amateurish. Word of advice for aspiring ROM hackers: don't shoehorn your own assets into a game unless you're absolutely certain they're up to snuff. Nobody wants to see half-assed tiles thrown together in MS Paint.
Strangelove
Knuckles in Sonic 1 Its such an awesome hack. I just finished it yesterday. You can glide through entire levels, its pretty funny. The game overall is just easier with Knuckles. Super fun.
