Humble Indie Bundle

Well at the time I didn't know whether or not you had downloaded them.

But I don't see what the big deal is, though. They're tech demos... not products that would be normally sold.

I mean, I would not have uploaded the games themselves if it had been possible.

Except they are products being sold. They're part of the bundle. Subversion isn't exactly purely a tech demo either since it is the prototype of the game they've being working on the past few years. It's much the same as the Jack Claw alpha in a previous bundle. It never ended up leading to a full game, but it was still part of the bundle and not just something they were giving away.

  • 2 weeks later...

And yet another bundle. This one isn't live yet though. It seems a pretty good pack though.

I have to say I don't think this whole thick n fast approach to indie bundles is going to be positive in the long run. With HIB it was just something once every few months. But there's been like 3 in the past 2 weeks and this'll be a fourth. It's insane. Surely it devalues the entire indie market?

I agree, this is getting to the point where there is absolutely nothing special about them anymore.

That being said, even though that's probably not how a lot of people look at it, these are less about cheap games and more about raising money for charity.

So in that sense, more is good. But still, if things don't slow down a bit, the indie market is definitely going to suffer sooner rather than later.

So... any of those games any good? Dino D-Day seemed like it would be fun for an hour.

It really isn't. I got it gifted to me a while back, and felt bad because I only played it for about 30 minutes before deciding it was just not worth it. It has a fairly nonexistant playerbase (like, one or two servers), and is unfortunately rather unbalanced in that nobody ever played the Allied side because they don't get dinosaurs. It does have a really nice art style, though, and some entertaining propaganda posters and newspapers. It's pretty much a $20 sourcemod, though, which is a shame. I want it to be good.

Take this with a grain of salt, but apparently people poking around the steam registry found what might be the content of the Humble Indie Bundle 4.

Could easily be a load of crap, but if true I have to say that's a pretty damn good line-up.
