deanb
Just the APKs, they have an app you can get that'll download the games you own to your phone. But they're not tied to your Play account if that's what you're wondering.
TheFlyingGerbil
I couldn't think of a way they could be tied to your PLAY account, so i assumed APKs, but since I haven't had an android device in ages, and have no intention of messing with my nexus 7* - I couldn't remember how APKs actually work. Do you just drag and drop and android recognises them or do you need super user/root access (can't remember exactly the process now) * kind of moot, actually, since I won't have it after tomorrow. deanb
Well you can either download them to your PC, then copy paste the files onto your phone, then on the phone open your file explorer app of choice (I use Solid Explorer), select the APK and the installer kicks in and poof the app is on your phone. Or grab the HIB app thing and sign in and download them straight to your phone through that. (I prefer the first just cos it means I've got em backed up safe n sound on my PC)
TheFlyingGerbil
thanks for the info but I don't know when I'll be replacing my nexus so I won't be buying this time.
Luftwaffles
What happened to your Nexus?
TheFlyingGerbil
It had the screen lifting thing and while it wasn't exhibiting any problems because of it yet, I have no intention of waiting until it does.
danielpholt
My brother has had to send his Nexus 7 back. Apparently the screen was becoming very unresponsive. It looks like a nice device, but there seems to be an awful lot of people sending it back.
Faiblesse Des Sens
^Never assume that. The Internet always gets filled with more negative stories than positive ones. When the device is working fine, they're not going to talk about it endlessly. Anyways, I tried all of the games. Uplink works with small text. SpaceChem wouldn't load at all though. deanb
Well there's only a handful folks on here picked up the Nexus 7 and two have sent them back. And when folks are working great we do tend to rave. (I like brining up my sexy Note a fair bit for example)
Faiblesse Des Sens
Yeah, but what about people who are outside of message boards? In general, people bitch more often than not. No one marches onto their countries capitol to tell them they're doing a great job.
deanb
Just because not everyone is on message boards and such doesn't really negate the fact there's an issue with some Nexus 7 models. As I said, there's two folks just on this place alone sending their Nexus 7's back, and I think that only leaves two others on here. Yes not everyone comes out the woodwork to praise their devices, but when things fuck up then people will point out things are fucked up, hardly like folks would make it up. TheMightyEthan
But his point, which is true, is that even if only 2% of the units are bad 90% of the discussion will be from people with bad units, so the fact that 90% of the discussion is from people with bad units doesn't really tell you very much of use. *I just pulled those specific numbers out of my ass. This is my point. No one should be scared about a product unless there's an actually huge problem like the RROD. That 2% is just very vocal. deanb
But my point would be that just going off folks we know with Nexus 7s and of those which have faulty units, there's a fair proportion. Your twos points work on the assumption that folks only ever decry the issues and don't rave about their awesome products. It's the kind of talk that'd dismiss the 36%~ of RROD'ed xboxes. edit: there ya go.
TheMightyEthan
One of the people on here sending it back specifically said they're not having the problem yet and are just doing it pro-actively.
deanb
Their screen is lifting off the device. That's usually things classed under "a problem". Especially on a brand new device (in both senses)
toxicitizen
Humble Bundle 6 is live. http://www.humblebundle.com Once again, pretty solid line-up. Dustforce if you beat the average is very nice as I've been wanting to get it for some time.
Faiblesse Des Sens
Awesome. I don't have any of those games except for TL.
UnstableArk
Thanks for the heads-up. Bought it before the average rises some more, and I've been really wanting to play 3 of them. The included soundtracks are a great bonus, too.
toxicitizen
Yeah, I already owned half the games but it was worth it for Dustforce and its soundtrack alone. I was also curious about Rochard but not enough to buy it on its own. I'd never even heard of Vessel, though.
toxicitizen
4 more games added to Beat the Average. I already own 3 of them since they were included in previous bundles but it's still not bad at all. The new one is Wizorb, which actually looks kinda cool. deanb
https://www.humblebundle.com/double-fine Double Fine Amnesia Bundle. Vote for four game concept ideas you'd like to see made into full prototypes over 2-3 weeks, and also get the prototype to Costume Quest and Happy Song right now. btw the Android Bundle 4 is still going (3 days left) and I can recommend it for Walking Mars alone. Most of these work on phones too this time. (Normally with the Android bundles you're looking at games that require, or work best on, tablets.) toxicitizen
Holy shit! There were rumors when steam registry entries were found a few weeks ago, but now the Humble THQ Bundle is live. That's fucking insane. Pay what you want for all three Company of Heroes games, Red Faction Armageddon, Metro 2033, Darksiders and, if you beat the average, Saints Row The Third. I already own them all except for Saints Row so I think I'll skip this one. But if for some reason you still haven't played Darksiders or Metro 2033, then this is an amazing one. TheMightyEthan
Saints Row The Third is great, it's worth it just to get that one game for cheap.
madbassman39
The only game on that list that I did own was Darksiders. I bought it to get saints row 3, I also am interested in Metro and company of heroes, but mostly for Saints Row.
