I'm tempted to visit you guys just to say hello. Haha.

I guess I should be thankful that at the very least I am able to waitlist a class that is being taught by a capable professor (who I've had for two classes last year). I'm staying on that damn waitlist for his class no matter how long it takes for me to get in.

Alrighty. If you do come by and stay at where I'm living at, you'll be in the living room. :P

Just let me know and I'll talk to my roommates. Roommates shouldn't have a problem. If they do, $5 each for lunch for them I guess. Should keep them quiet.

Sweet. I've spent a bit of time in SLO, so I probably won't stop by to check out the school, but if I do end up there or swing by I'll let you know.

I have something kinda related to that, but waitlisting online classes fucking sucks. I mean, it's an online class, not even a hybrid or anything. What's the point of a waitlist for a class that doesn't have a seat limit and doesn't meet in a classroom?

They opened up a new section being taught by another professor, and automatically dropped me into it.

I wouldn't have any of that. I immediately put myself back on the waitlist for my favored professor, even if the other class had guaranteed spots.

Not sure about online courses, but they're probably going the greedy route and attempting to emulate the regular college seating, ie. only so many students to a single class, no matter how much you pay.

I don't know who the fuck is deciding the curriculum for engineering, but they're tripping balls.

After picking classes for next semester I realized I'm not even close to graduating despite this being my 4th year. I was like "WTF" and went to look at the "suggested" plan of what to take (which I wasn't following). In order to finish in 4 years they're fucking asking for ~17 hour semester, each semester. My favorite was their "suggested" second semester of Freshman year, where they suggested 19 hours that semester. When signing up for classes the hard limit for hours is 18.

:bun-WTF:

So far... C and C+. Yay for classes I don't care about.

As for the classes I do care about, I got a B for one and the other is still pending... Not bad I suppose for doing my usual routine of barely studying however!

Juggling classes, study, eating, cleaning and everything else is a bit more challenging than I thought it would be. Time to adjust and kick some ass. I KNOW I can do it. If my roommates can study their asses off then surely I can... then again I do clean the place whi- Nevermind.

Well, I have no qualms when it comes to reading and writing in English, but I'm in a Serbian college, studying Japanese, yet my culture/history classes all demand that we read books in English. What's more, the book I am looking at right now was written in 1958... And people wonder why I say that higher education in Serbia means bullocks.

Well, what type of book is it? I think many colleges get new books just to make the kids buy more books and spend more money.

I'm not sure if anyone else experienced this when applying places, but I figured it'd be worth sharing, as it's quite irritating.

So, I've applied to some 8 schools so far, and so far only 3 have gotten back to me, with two acceptances and one rejection. That's normal, and I'm not really complaining, but unfortunately I've got to get back to those two that accepted me with a yes or no by May 1st. The only real issue with that is that I'm not going to hear back from a good 3 of the other schools until May 1st is passed. That seems a tad shortsighted, but I can't see myself committing to the two schools that have accepted me until I've at least heard back from the rest.

So. Anyone else have this issue? I suppose it's because I'm applying as a transfer student as well as to some private schools, but still, it's irritating.

It is for sure you won't know until after May 1st? Is it possible to get an extension? Also, you're a transfer so you get first dibs before the freshmen. So I find it odd that it will take that long.

Try the above and sit on this until the middle of next month. If nothing changes... start thinking of what you want to do. You can accept one of the two or hope the other will accept you after May 1st.

Loans, loans, LOANS! Let the tango begin. I manage to get through a few years without it but the main reason was that I was living with my parents with whom I helped get through the rough economic times. Now to roll the dice to see if I can work off getting less than I intended since subsidized loans doesn't cover me completely. Between me, my mom and dad... we at the worst need to cover $500 each to fill the gap to maintain my current living level. I'm sure I can do enough odd jobs to cover my end and more over the summer. Hell, I can lower my living standards if push comes to shove...

Summer classes sucks FYI. I have to take them since I'm sort of behind thus... it pretty much makes up half of my loan cost.

Goal for next summer: Get an internship to setup connections so I can land a job right after. Paralleling that is to work with my professors since they know folks.

I need to kill off my loans before I head onto grad school... so a job after I graduate is key. I'm sure I can do it one way or another.

Hijacking for a bit. I need opinions. I think I know the general consensus and I am not even sure if I can but... I just barely failed Physics. The thing is I might be able to retake the class next semester along with the next Physics in the series. The thing is, I am packed already but I really want to knock it off for good and not be behind.

If given the option, should I take everything at once? If you want to know how packed I am: http://i.imgur.com/NwmU2.png

I retook physics 1 and 2 both. Only failed one class, dropped the other before I could fail. My suggestion, if its really not a requirement, but a pre-req. then try to see if your adviser will allow you to take the class that requires the second physics class at the same time that you are taking physics 2. If you class is anything like the ones I had, you really don't need to know it as much as understand the concepts as you'll be retaught everything in terms that are more specific for your major.

For example, as a construction engineering management major I had to know physics to learn and understand statics (which followed through to strength of materials classes), so ultimately I had to know that Gravity was 9.8 meters per second and for every action there is an opposite and equal reaction to keep things from moving.

For reasons unbeknownst to me statics was my worst physics class. I love physics, and did great in dynamics. I think it might have been my professor's teaching style just not clicking with me or something.

@Mal: If you already failed it once I don't think you'd be doing yourself any favors by taking it on top of that already packed schedule, you'd just be setting yourself up to fail again. I'd drop at least one class if you're going to add the physics, especially if it means another lab.

I never found Statics to be too difficult, but I didn't find any of my CEM classes to be difficult. Problem was getting the required internship to graduate. Luckily my friend's fiance's mother was the head of HR at a CM firm and I got the internship there last summer, graduated in december and got a job with the same company in April and move 400 miles away and am pretty happy right now. Its a good field, school doesn't do it justice, you really have to experience the job sites to really appreciate the field.

Damn you engineers. And yeah, I think I'll just take one physic class. I was expecting worst. Finals day was not a good day. It was a really off day for me. I think my calc instructor took note of my notes of that which I will thank him for. Also don't you hate it when you get a D+?

Well in all seriousness Construction Engineering Management isn't really an engineering course, as much as a specific management course with some light engineering sprinkled in. No class was complete without students asking for the class to be easier, and I already thought them to be easy enough as it was.
