A Goodish but difficult scenario...

So, I'm currently working as a QA Manager and in part; design consultant for a small game studio in Asia. I have recently been contacted by a guy in Europe to do some consulting for some studios over there. It's an interesting offer, but a tough transition.

Today, I also got contacted by another guy regarding a job offer, QA Management, but not in games.

Right now, I need money. I have bills to pay, and Hong Kong is expensive.

My current job is frustrating at times, but I do enjoy it. But I'm seeing my progressional options there narrowing down.

Because I have dependent, I can't just leap...

Man, I have no idea what to do...:s

1. You can't focus on the need for money now. You have to focus on the long term,

2. All jobs are frustrating at times. There is no easy job, or it's not really a job. The grass is always greener.

3. If the QA Manager job takes you out of the industry, is that the direction you want to go into? As long as you do not burn your bridges, you will always have a slight bridge back into the gaming industry, correct?

4. Consulting sounds short term, and may not lead to a future opportunity.

5. Don't job hop, but don't get stuck in one place forever. 3 to 5 years in a job is pretty stable these days, then move on for better rewards.

Hmm if you can move from being a QA manager in games, to a QA manager outside of games, is there any reason why you couldn't go back the other way once you have more general QA experience under your belt? (I have no real idea of what a QA manager would actually do so I don't know how much it will differ between industries).
