At this years Gamescom we finally got to see what Carbine Studios has been up to the last few years. Wildstar Online is a new MMORPG from alot of members from the original World of Warcraft team aswell as Tim Cain of Fallout fame. It is a hotkey based MMO such as WoW and SWTOR but where it differs is in its art style and the player path system. When you create your character you are given a choice of being either an Explorer, Soldier, Settler or a Scientist. Depending on what you choose can change the quests you get completely. its still early on and details are scarce but they came full force and even had it available to play on the showfloor. I signed PXoD up for Beta but if you wanna do it yourself to up your chances click here.

I played this at PAX, and holy shit it is fun. I don't know how good it will end up being overall, since we just don't know enough yet, but the gameplay feels snappy, fun and great, and the art is beautiful. I'm optimistic for this one.

Thanks for telling me your impressions, makes me hope even more that we get put into the beta. Really excited for this one.

The concept sounds really interesting. I'd like an MMO that wasn't just about combat yet still quite accessible. I've not read much about it but the explorer or settler stuff intrigues me. Looks purdy too.

Not much to go on with those 2 yet, the gameplay they showed was level 2 to level 3 in the game so its EXTREMELY early on, Lets hope we get some Beta Keys!

No clue as of yet, Personally i would like it to be subscription based. Microtransaction F2P models are not for me and unless you build a game like guild wars its kinda hard not to have income after the initial sale. Its a matter of how you like your content delivered to you but meh, anyway we should be geting more info sooner rather than later. They got the MMO community interested and they gotta keep dangling that bait and let the hype grow.

I'm not very fond of the art style. And while I am by no means generally persuaded by something anyone with a sane mind would deem trivial and inconsequential, there are two things: chiefly, I am not sane. It also reminds me of a Dreamworks/Pixar production, and I absolutely, positively, categorically detest Dreamworks/Pixar productions. SO NO, KEYWORK! YOU GET NOTHING!

I just wanted to post something since you were sniveling over no-one talking MMORPGs with you.

You have no clue what its like to be in PXoD/Loltakuites chat for about 2 years and have not a soul play MMO's sans EVE with you. Shit gets to you after awhile man. One of the reasons i broke my noforum mantra and came here to pay a visit :D

Hey, if we both get into beta, I'll play with ya. I've been a longtime player of MMOs (like, literally, almost every single F2P MMO that's been released in 2008 or earlier, I have played, along with trials for some P2Ps as well, since I'm a cheap bastard). Also very nice to see another MMO enthusiast. :D

Case in point being my Raptr account (http://raptr.com/eldanesh117/games, sort by most played), in which the top 5 games played all happen to be MMOs.
