Faiblesse Des Sens
Does anyone have any experience with how these all perform and what phone you're using? You can test out most of them via a download from the market but you have to pay $5 for the full versions. I'm wondering if anyone with a higher end phone has had success with the epsxe emulator. I've used Gameboid with Metroid Fusion and it runs great. The SNES one seemed to run well, too. I haven't really tried to break the emulators yet though. Of course I mean just by using the games that hit them the hardest. Also, I hit "new topic" in the wrong tab. Move please!
Mister Jack
I have been trying to get a decent one for the iPhone myself.
deanb
I just skipped over them myself. Got my PSP, Buttons n all for emulators. Personally I'd be pretty iffy with them. Not much garuntee their legal so if you pay for them there's the chance it'll soon get taken away (though they have been around for about a year or so, so maybe not)
staySICK
I've heard good things about the PSX4droid one. downloaded it; haven't put any roms on it. Like dean, I have a PSP w CFW.
Faiblesse Des Sens
I have been trying to get a decent one for the iPhone myself. I doubt there would be any in the app store but I would be surprised if there wasn't a few on Cydia. Also they're as legal as normal emulators are. You still have to provide the roms and bios yourself!
Mister Jack
I've seen a couple but I didn't like the "button" layout.
Faiblesse Des Sens
I've seen a couple but I didn't like the "button" layout. in all of the ones i've used you can change the layout. they were actually quite customizable. FredEffinChopin
Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but it's possible someone still might give a dam. I only recently got my first Android phone, and one of the first things I searched for was the emulator I used to use on PC, SNES9x. It was there, free, and works like a charm. Customizable, ad-free, and with my favorite feature intact, the ability to slip into fast-forward mode, which is invaluable when grinding away in a JRPG. Also for what passed for cutscenes back then. It would be nice if you could choose to set the FF key to hold/toggle, but I'm sure that'll come in a future update. I should also mention that the product description claims that SNES9x is what SNESoid, Tiger SNES, and "many others" are using commercially, under different names. It notes that SNES9x has a non-commercial use license, and should not be sold or used to show ads. Seemed relevant, given Dean's comment above about one of the paid emulators being taken away in the future. I don't know much about how/when the use of these licenses is enforced, but this seems relatively safe from being snatched from you before you can finish Secret of Mana yet again. And if not, there is no money lost at least.
deanb
So most of the emulators got yanked from the Android Market. Bum deal. You'll just have to do a google search for em now I guess.
FredEffinChopin
Yeah, read about that. The SNES one I mentioned it still up and awesome though, if anyone is in need of one. I'm not sure if this one is still around for the reasons given by the author (Robert Broglia), but it's there. That author also has GBC, Turbo Grafx, and NES emus up there as well, though I haven't had a chance to try any of them. They're well rated, but... Not free. TheMightyEthan
*Casts resurrect* I just got an Android phone, and I'm looking for good free emulators. I got the SNES9x on mentioned above, but I'd still like a GBC/GBA and an NES one. Does anyone have any recommendations? I tried google but people seem to just be recommending paid emulators, and I'm not willing to pay actual money for an emulator.
deanb
1. Do some more googling, then you don't have to pay 2. Most of those paid ones have been removed from Android market now anyway so you can probably find the dev just giving them away on their site. SNESx9 is about all my phone can manage so you won't get many suggestions off me.
Faiblesse Des Sens
^ Yep. Things changed when the emulators were pulled. Now try the devs sites rather than the market.
Harri
Gamebold is the best I've used. All you need to do is download the bios along with it. http://getandroidstuff.com/emulator-roms-android-download-v127-nesfc-snessfc-gba-mdgenesis-emulator-thousands/ http://slideme.org/application/gameboid
jayc4life
As far as I know, Genesis A.D. is still on the market (name self-explanatory), as is VICE64 (Commodore 64) and Marvin (ZX Spectrum). GBC A.D. was there too within the last month, but again, not sure on its current status.
