Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning

Using found armor as components is nice, but at one point you'll make such epic armor that only an even MORE epic armor you build could beat it. I found myself bored in games like this when I didn't have any incentive to decide whether to take or leave armor other than "can i use something from this to make my already beast armor beastier?"

And I agree with you WTF. The scope of this game is massive and... while I wouldn't say I am obsessed with this as I was with Skyrim when it first came out, there are many factors that come at play to determine that [one being how skyrim had come out 3 months before and I was already somewhat burned out of massive games like this].

Being a finesse guy with sorcery, my main skills I'm upgrading are detect hidden, mercantile, and stealth. I'm also dabbling in making crystals. With detect hidden and mercantile, I'm making a decent amount of money. I never have less than 80,000 gold. I also have armor that gives me health regen, which means I only have to use health potions every once in a while, and when I HAVE to have more, I can just buy them. Once i reach the point where small health regen potions are useless, I'll respec to get rid of alchemy and just put more in mercantile so I can buy regular potions.

I love poison blink. With my fire/ice damage daggers, and my increased elemental damage, I can do poison and fire/ice damage beastly. I can kill big guys relatively easy if I can sneak up behind them, and overall I don't tend to play as rogues but rogue/mage is so fucking sweet.

I do agree that the rogue mage is pretty sweet but it's hard to find a good robe or even find the necessary bits to create one and so I've got a fair number of points in might too.

I've not made a lot of crystals and I do have some points in detect hidden which I guess I should improve based on what you said.

Personally I don't care about armour, but I do care about weapons and that's always my main focus in games like these. I just like to find one awesome armour and be done with it. But I love having several weapons.

Personally I love the chakrams (kind of weird to use it as a plural in English, but yeah) because they just take down enemies for massive damage. Combine that with a fae blade and dagger and that's pretty much what I carry about. I just love the fast weapons. Everything else seems useless to me at the moment.

I guess since I didn't spend more than 8-10 hours with Skyrim I'm not quite burnt out on this as yet. Plus i suppose the thing is entirely my fault too for not caring about Skyrim since I just don't care to play in the Nordic lands. The world is just eh to me for the most part. Whereas the world in Amalur feels fresh. I think it's because I've spent over 200 hours in Morrowind that I just couldn't feel that way about the other TES games since.

Oh and the combat, finally a WRPG that does combat decently instead of a clunkfest.

Being a rogue mage doesn't require you to have a robe to have decent magicka. I have a combination of a whole bunch of armors, plus rings and necklesses, that give me extra magicka and magicka recharge.

And tell me about it. This is the first game where combat is actually straight up fun. I love me some Skyrim, but god damn does it have the most blind fanboys ever. Some actually defend the combat and say this combat is shitty.

I know I know but it's the aesthetics man. I just like to see the character I made in her robe or some decent leather outfits. I honestly dislike some of the designs of the might armour but at least it's not so far followed the rule of the better the armour the less it covers.

The shields though, whoever designed some of them really knew how to make them stand out. Shame you barely see them when running around. I usually have talismans and rings for decent magicka. It's just the mapping that I forget. Sometimes I've forgotten that I have x spell since I'm so used to just using the early ones I got.

Also screw those plants that bite you soon as you head to a treasure - I wish I could kill them.

That boss fight was fun though, I tried it twice because I goofed up in what I wanted to say the first time. One thing I'm not entirely sure of is that, conversation mid-boss fight with a dialogue option. Sometimes it's ok but sometimes you're like okay I chose this path just let me do it already.

Ahh, you played with a keyboard? I'm sorry but this game is crap to play with on a keyboard. It's much better played with a controller. That's just the way it was programmed.

Also loot is an important key point in diablo and this did try to take that aspect from the Blizz games. No crazy loot in Diablo makes it as meh as the clones. Loved the horadric cube.

I'm sure you can find it used for consoles now at a gamestop for like 40 or 45.

Steam though, it might take a while.

But cowboy word of warning: this game is nothing groundbreaking. If you've played MMO-like single player RPG's before, you'll enjoy this. it is REALLY well done, but nothing groundbreaking.

What do you mean?

As in they're stuck in your menu? Because if so, I have some shit in my inventory that can't leave [like a specific armor set I supposedly sold]. Or do you mean there are so many you don't want to deal with them?

I mean that I can only ever do half of the quests but by the time I've done them, I have a whole new bunch of quests.

Strangely though, the dude who collects Freeman Armbands is no longer accepting them. I've 50 of the bastard things sitting in my inventory. I need to get rid but he's not playing ball. I might go smack the shit outta him next time I see him, see if that changes his mind.

Yeah, that's what I figured, especially coming off Skyrim, I don't think this game can live up to the standards of the games it's trying to be. I'm expecting something closer to the level of a RPG like Fable 2.

I only buy new, but this strikes me as a game that'll reach 39.99 soon. Which I think is a reasonable price to pay for both the quality and the quantity of this game.

Ha ha, you have the VAT

Eh? What's your point?

Google Translate provides this:

"Ha ha, your final checkout prices are simple to work out because a single tax means that all items can be taxed on the "shelves" rather than at the checkout based upon whatever tax laws are in place within the particular square mile location you're in at the time"
