excel_excel
Its looking great! Also 3DS MPO pics to look at on your 3DS here they look fantastic when viewed in 3D. Really looking forward to it, seems to combine all the best elements of previous games. Tanooki suit baby!!
Strangelove
Too bad you can't fly in the fucking suit anymore. Its fucking neutered.
excel_excel
Yeah is that confirmed? It would seem to me that the SMB2 bunny ears would have been a better choice
Strangelove
Was the "Land" series ever popular? Would anyone remember the bunny ears? I loved those games on my gameboy. They were very solid. I never see them mentioned though. As if they didnt happen.
excel_excel
I think the Land series was popular enough. All of my friends who've play video games have played them! They were really the first Mario games with a proper boss focus, unlike say Mario Bros 3 which had bosses which had an underlying similarity. So great they were! Mister Jack
I hope they don't force the overhead camera angle TOO much just to shove the 3D in our faces. I don't mind it in small doses but if it appears constantly it would really grate on my nerves.
CorgiShinobi
Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins was my first video game. So yeah, I remember those bunny ears.... AND WARIO!
FMW
I think it's really interesting how Nintendo is picking and choosing elements from the different facets of the Mario franchise for this game. We've got 3D graphics and movement, but we've got a timer and flagpole stages. It's games like this that really bring the innovation argument to a head. This game is a unique combination of game elements, so it's going to be a new experience. But all these elements are well explored in other games. Does that leave this game as derivative microwaved franchise leftovers or a new blending of familiar ingredients to create a new dish? Honestly I think I could make a solid argument either way. The base question though is "will people have fun with this?". In that respect we can only wait to find out upon release.
excel_excel
So, been playing it up to World 3 so far, looks fantastic, love the 3D, great fun, BUT the first 2 worlds are a bit by the numbers. World 3 is finally giving things a bit of a go with full proper 3D levels, really good stuff. That said, it seems far too short. Its like what 4 or 5 levels a world? FMW
There's a bit more content than the standard 8 worlds in this one, you don't have much to worry about in that regard. I understand a fair bit of it requires unlocking though, so grab them star coins!
danielpholt
Gotta say, i love the first part. However, like many i think its just too easy to fly through the levels. I had all 8 starter worlds complete in a few hours, thats with all the coins. The 2nd 8 however, wow. Talk about frustrating. I'm on W7-3 and i've lost the will to play it. Maybe its just me, but when a game goes from being too easy, to too hard, i switch off.
FMW
All right! I've got this game and I've got things to say about it! Wow this game has a lot of content! This evening I cleared world 8 for the first time. It was good stuff. Level design definitely improved as the game continued. The way I see it this puts me at... about 25% of the way through. To see and do everything you've gotta clear worlds 1-8, then go back and find all the star coins, then clear worlds 9-16, then go back and find all the star coins hidden in those. On top of that you've gotta figure how to land on the top of every flagpole... I can't guarantee I won't burn out on this game before actually finishing all this content (I usually do in Super Mario games) but for now it's a great feeling to know that I'm having a ton of fun with the game and there's no end to the fun in sight. I'll be playing for as long I could want to be playing I reckon.
