It looks like they are keeping their subscription model in the form of premium accounts, only with a lower tier that costs $5 a month in addition to the $15 "legendary" offering. It beats the hell out of paying $40 for a disc just to find out if you like the game at all in the first place. I mean, I gave the WoW trial a shot a while back and just couldn't get into it. But the fact that this one is based in the DCU makes it infinitely more interesting to me. That being said, paying monthly payments on top of the initial 50 bucks was just not something I felt good about. So this going free to play is awesome news for me since I've really wanted to try it but was unwilling to make the necessary investment. I was hoping for a free trial at some point, but this is even better. Sure you don't get a whole lot of inventory, or free vault tickets, but you can still access all the powers/costumes/and vanilla game content for free. Having purchased this I will be a premium member, which sounds even better. Hopefully this is how they manage it. If they can give enough content to make free players feel like they are playing a full game then I would assume they would be more inclined to buy the DLC/characterslots/ anything else, than if you choke them into small amounts of the game EDIT: I also think that the console market has been "trained" for this type of system on microtransactions. DLC is a huge hit for consoles and if they can sway people to purchase DLC then they'll be fine. If I like it I'll probably wind up subbing, as I'm well aware of my packrat nature and will probably be hurting for space quickly. It seems like there is no downside to the free players. Believe it or not people have already been complaining that the free players don't get to unlock trophies. It seems fair to me but whatever. Yea, its a small price to pay for a full game. Thing is, DCUO is worth money, just not the $50 start up, and then a full subscription every month, thats too steep for that game. Some MMOs warrant that price, but DCUO is too shallow for that. If DCUO was $30, with a $10 sub then I would be more on board with it... I find the idea that MMO subs are all the same price and don't understand why each game can't create a different price, but thats a subject for another topic of discussion. Also I'll mainly be giving it a spin, as per usual I probably won't get into it much. Especially with Skyrim round the corner. I'm definitely more fan of MSNORPGs. Also, am I correct in assuming that the account is accessible on both platforms? Like, if I start playing on PC but for some reason decide to download it on PS3, I'll be able to access the same account and characters, right? Previously that would've required buying 2 copies of the game, which is ridiculous, but now that it's free... It's a pretty unique MMO, and certainly the best action-ish MMO I've tried by far. At launch, my main gripes was that it ran out of content just below max level (reminds me of WoW at launch, heh) and that there weren't enough costume pieces (compared to Champions Online where you could create whatever twisted abomination your heart desires) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Might possibly have a go at creating ones like my SuperZeroes...just which one(s)... I can see the costume thing being a nuisance but I guess, on the plus side, even the most random assortment of pieces doesn't look terrible (I'd be happy to see myself proven wrong though!).
