Thursday Next
Some other things people need to learn to do. 1. When you are playing Support and you get set up in a position, drop a god damned ammo box. You may have umpteen billion rounds to use up, but I don't, there's been at least three occasions just in the course of the beta where I am running around, bingo ammo, and no one in a support kit even looks like dropping any ammo. I only have one grenade. I will only ever have one grenade unless provide some... ummm, what's that word? Oh yeah, SUPPORT! 2. If you are the squad leader, point your cross-hairs at an objective and press back / select / Q. It will put a marker on the point and give you an extra 20 points for anything that any of your squad does in that radius. It's free fucking points! In fact, even if you aren't the squad leader, do it anyway because you probably are the squad leader and are just too stupid to notice. 2. (a) If, by some miracle (or because I am your squad leader) there is a marker on an objective. Go cover it. The rest of your squad should be there so you will have plenty of back up. I'm sure that guarding an objective from wave after wave of enemies is not as fun as sitting in your favouritest spot on the map, sniping at (and missing) anyone who happens to stray into the no-mans-land that you have decided to watch, but the rest of your squad would really appreciate it if you cooperated. 3. Turn your laser / torch off. Especially if you have just spawned on me. Press up on the dpad and stop signalling to every arsehole sniper on the map exactly where we are currently ensconced. Thanks. All this goes for Conquest too. Especially if you have used matchmaking to find a squad. There may be a number of different languages, people without mics and what not. But everyone can understand that you need to head to the m-com station / flag / whatever with the spiky bits sticking out of it. Oh, and if you do want to lone-wolf it, then lone-wolf it. Don't join a squad and then piss off up a hill somewhere. Leave the squad and play your way, on your own.

I've noticed on PC that calling for ammo only works like a quarter of the time as well so I'm forced to resort to knifing the dumb shits to get their attention. Throw down ammo, even if you don't need it. Just throw it the fuck down. Any time I come to a stop (as Assault), I drop a medkit. People around me? I drop a medkit. It gives me points and keeps my team alive. Man, I lament the death of teamwork in these games, it seems since Call of Duty became the big thing, no one cares about helping their team. That said, I got in a squad with a very good player earlier and we both owned the leaderboards for the few rounds we played together. I think I'll send him a friend request. And as I remember it, can I get all your soldier names for friend requests? Mine is MasterrDex if you'd rather just add me. Thursday Next
Yup. I remember back in BF2 when you would have entire herds of Medics and Support bunny-hopping across the map, spamming medpacks like they were going out of fashion. Nowadays you have to email someone a request. Oh, I'm VictorAnalogy (I'm only on PS3 mind).

The lights and lasers need to be reworked. First off, it's nonsensical that they default to on. Secondly, they have no charge so noobs just keep them on which results in blinded teammates and positions being revealed. Just setting the default state to off and limiting how long the light can be on for should help in teaching people to be more careful with using it. You're lucky to have been able to use your own username. I've been the only MasterDex in Battlefield until this game. As absurd as it sounds, I'd love if you could claim digital rights on a username. For BF2142 we allowed BF2 players to reserve their name. I recall. I was able to maintain my name thanks to that. What I was referring to though was an internet-wide decree of sorts where I could claim MasterDex anywhere - like trademarking a brand - That would be as absurd I think as much as it would be impossible to implement. madbassman39
I loved playing as support in BF2/2142. I would stay with my squad and when we posted up a defense position, I would drop an ammo box, and that is my habit even now, or it would be if my squad would stick together. Flash lights (and to a lesser degree) lasers give your position away. I don't know how many times I saw a flashlight or a laser in my face and dropped behind cover. The answer is "a lot". How people don't know better is beyond me, if you can see their flash light, its a guarantee that they can see yours. I played a few rounds last night, and you know what my squad did? Spawn camped. They spawn camped, even when we were attacking. I charged the objective 4 times, and we didn't destroy one. My team was no where near me, and they were able to get out of their spawn points, kill me and turn off the charges, while in no danger at all. My dick wad squad? They ended up with the three lowest scores, but the best KDR. I don't get it! Why do you care about KDR if you end up on the bottom of the score board? Battlefield was way better when Call of Duty didn't exist, not because the games were better, but because people learned how to play the games. Thursday Next
I only equip flashlights for the tunnel bit of metro. Even then, I spawn, switch it off and then only use it when I know there's a guy about to come around the corner. It can be great for that half second disorientation you need to get the kill in but if you leave it on all the time, you might as well walk around with a target painted on you. I'm also stunned at how many people don't seem to change loadouts when they respawn.Maybe they just don't die, but if you are in the first or last section with a torch, you've got to ask yourself what you are thinking about. Mister Jack
I don't think I've ever played a game with as many dickheads as Battlefield. You always expect the occasional asshole complaining about a shitty team or a douche bag talking about how elite he is in pretty much any multiplayer game, but for some reason they all just FLOCK to the Battlefield series like it's their Mecca. It really makes it hard to have fun.

The Xbox version makes it so you have to go through 3 menu options to change the equipment on your gun... 3! Its annoying, and even then, you end up making a mistake because the button options don't make any damn sense.

Its annoying, and even then, you end up making a mistake because the button options don't make any damn sense. PS3 is no different. It is a bit involved I admit and it would be just grand if you could have a list of presets, e.g. "Close Quarters Dark", "Open Ground Daytime" like you can in CoD. The only work-around I can see for it is that the game seems to remember individual weapon setups since the assault rifles handle similarly I suppose you could set up one with a torch, foregrip and reflex scope for close quarters, the other with a 4x ACOG, Bipod and heavy barrel for more open environments. Given how little customisation there was in BFBC2, I'm more happy to have the options and spend a good few minutes each round setting up my kit between bases. Saturnine Tenshi
Cannot count the times I've armed a site only to have it destroyed because no-one else thought it'd be a good idea to do the objective. The whole class system really is convoluted. And if I were to consider buying the game going by the beta state, the way squads work would ruin it for me. There is no option to choose your own squad. Tensions are raised and due to high popularity the ratio of dumbass:cooldude is greater so you're bound to get people complaining about a shitty team, etc. Just for the record though, sometimes the person complaining about a shitty team is spot on. DocSeuss
I didn't think I was capable of hating a game this much. The lag, server browser, and map design suck. Where's the Battlefield experience?
Luftwaffles
Less QQ, more pewpew. It really grinds my gears to hop into a BC2 server and see a squad of level 50s doing nothing but complaining about the teams. I mean, you're level 50, if you spent less time sitting in a corner bitching into chat you'd probably be able to help the team out a little. You can only voice chat with people in your battlelog-made party, not even your squad, let alone the rest of the team on PC. Remember when sequels built upon their predecessors? Thursday Next
VoiP is knackered in PS3 at the moment. Should be fine come release. Restricting communication is not necessarily a step backwards. Broadband communication just leads to a load of chatter and trash talking. Restricting comms to squads means that communication is (usually) more focussed on how to achieve goals.
