TheFlyingGerbil
they're supposedly waiting for the second iteration for the UK launch. Hopefully they'll keep this one as the entry level and add the other one at a higher price. Rather than just make another cheap one to replace the current version. deanb
I assume they're also waiting to roll out their services for it too. Even if the hardware came out here it'd be pretty slim pickings for content.

madbassman39
My girlfriend got me a fire for my bday and so far I'm loving it. Its not as sluggishh as I felt the instore models were. Ive read a lot of complaints about the browser but I don't think it's bad at all.
TheRevanchist
The browser is not that bad. I know I have experienced lag on page loads, but that is far and few between.
TheRevanchist
Speaking of Kindle Fire, the wife wants to stream her HDX to the TV. My DLP is not a smart TV, so I'm going to have to get something to get her set up to do this, as well as join the 21st century and start streaming to more than just my phone and laptop. I'm thinking the Roku 3, as it should play friendly with the Fire HDX. Any other thoughts?
madbassman39
I got a Fire TV for a month for free then I have to either pay the $100 or return it. My only gripe is that it doesn't have as many apps as the Roku 3, but once it gets HBO go on it (which Amazon promised they would) then I would be more than happy with it. The HDX has some streaming features to the Fire TV which is nice, but I only have the HD (no X) so I haven't been able to use the second screen feature. Overall I would suggest it to those who are looking but wouldn't say buy it over the Roku 3 unless you want the voice search. Although the box is screaming fast and I'll probably end up keeping the Fire TV. I may even buy a controller if Amazon brings Xcom over to it (fingers crossed). TheRevanchist
That's right. How are the games on it?
madbassman39
I haven't actually loaded any games on it, but every game that is compatible with the Fire TV that I purchased is available to download for free. Right now I pretty much just use it to watch Netflix, Amazon Video, Youtube and the Soccer games on my old TV in my room. I'd rate it an 8/10, which is higher than I'd rate the apple TV we have at work. I would suggest it if you are already interested in it, but compared to the Roku it doesn't quite have all of the channels there yet, but I'm confident Amazon is going to work at giving us all the apps.
