FMW
Ok, it's past time a thread for this title went up. It's a new Zelda game. Normally I try to aim my threads at a particular topic or train of thought, but this one is gonna be left wide open. What follows are things that I've found worthy of thought so far. 1. Art. The game looks pretty. I've heard that it's a mix between Twilight Princess and Wind Waker, but I disagree. It is neither as exaggerated as Windwaker nor as gritty as Twilight Princess, but I don't see it as even falling on a continuum between the two. The watercolor-esque shaders used help create an entirely new look I feel. 2. Motion Controls. We can't really comment on this one until the game is in our hands, but it WILL be a point of contention (because it's change, and ALL change (good or bad) is contentious). Feelings regarding the control scheme belong here. 3. Music. Zelda music ranges from adequate to outstanding. This soundtrack was orchestrated. Which is exciting. Again, there's little to say about this until release but there will be MUCH to be said post release. 4. Expectations. Do you plan to buy this? If so, why? If not, why? What might convince you otherwise? 5. Narrative. This story will be different. There's no Ganon and Zelda isn't a princess. There seems to be no Kingdom of Hyrule (first in continuity and all that). There's no Triforce. And... is this a romance? Did they finally go there? NOT in this thread: Console Wars or this game's impact thereupon.
TheMightyEthan
I can't decide whether I'm going to preorder this or not. It's coming out right after Halo: Anniversary and AC:R, so I don't know that I'll have any time. I'll definitely pick it up shortly after launch though. I already bought a Wii Motion Plus just for this game.
excel_excel
Really looking forward to it, about time we had a game fully developed by Nintendo around Motion Plus, looks to be such a different story compared to the other games, and no Ganondorf either. AND DAT MUSIC.
P4: Gritty Reboot
I'm particularly interested in the supposedly revamped dungeon system. Apparently there is some new structure to the game vs. the traditional dungeon - overworld dichotomy from before. I do love the art and very excited about the fully orchestrated soundtrack. I'm partway through Twilight Princess right now, and other than the annoying Wolf sections it's quite good, so I'm pumped for this one. TheMightyEthan
Revamped structure? I like Zelda the way it is. ;_; Also, I fear change.
Yantelope
I can't decide whether I'm going to preorder this or not. I already bought a Wii Motion Plus just for this game. I decided to preorder this over AC:R even though I have more interest in AC:R simply because I know that AC:R will be $20 within 6 months and this will remain $50 forever. Also I wanted the pretty gold wiimote.

Yantelope
I'd +2 that post if I had the power. You're making the choice. The choice of a new generation.

Unlike the vast majority of other games which are reduced in less than a month like Dead Space 2, you don't feel cheated. That is really the only plus to the Nintendo price point
TheMightyEthan
lol "The good thing about their pricing is that they stay over-priced forever, so you don't feel cheated."
CorgiShinobi
I'd pay $50 for a Zelda game... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bw4uj_ZPHvY
TheMightyEthan
Yeah, I decided to preorder it. The only thing I'm waiting on now is to see if Amazon offers release date delivery on the preorder. Has anyone preordered a game at Walmart? How does it work?
CorgiShinobi
Long, long ago. Like, Wind Waker long ago. If it's still the same, you keep your receipt and they should have a copy saved for you. I don't know if they keep a name on it or anything, so save that piece of paper! I would hope they do save a copy for you. One reason I tend to be hesitant about pre-ordering at major retail stores is because an employee might simply grab a copy off the shelf. Maybe this is because they can get away with it for less popular titles, but the whole idea is to also reserve a certain number of copies. TheMightyEthan
Just went ahead and preordered it from Amazon. Signed up for the Prime trial so I got 1-day shipping for $4.

Usually with Prime they upgrade you to release date shipping for free but they usually don't guarantee release date shipping until a couple of weeks before release. TheMightyEthan
I know, but since it's releasing on a Sunday they don't offer release date delivery, because nobody delivers on Sundays. Seriously, Nintendo, Sunday is the WORST possible day for a release. Friday would be ideal.

P4: Gritty Reboot
I do believe Nintendo has traditionally released consoles and big games on Sundays. Not always, but often.
TheMightyEthan
Yeah, I looked into it, seems Sunday is their day for major releases, like Zelda and Mario.
CorgiShinobi
Yeah, it's traditional, and boy do I dislike it. Friday is such a magical time, especially when it happens to be payday!
Strangelove
I still dont have a motionplus controller or attachment and its so late int he Wii's life that I dont feel like spending extra money on it, even if it is a Zelda game. Honestly, what other games....well, what GOOD games also require the motionplus? lolredsteel2doesncount
CorgiShinobi
Red Steel 2 is, uh, you know, good! if anything, you could get yourself the golden controller for the extra $20 if you don't have that many Wiimotes. I only have two and that's enough in my opinion. Otherwise I think you could get the attachment for dirt cheap given how it's obsolete with the tech now built in to the controller. P4: Gritty Reboot
Red Steel 2 is probably the best Motion Plus game tbh. It's more like a first-person Tony Hawk than a shooter. The Tiger Woods games are also supposed to be good, but I do like Wii Sports Resort also.
FMW
Wii Sports resort is the game you're looking for. Disc Golf is seriously threatening to replace Mario Golf Toadstool Tour as my go-to game when I'm feeling down. It used to be Animal Crossing but then I let Metopia atrophy in my absence and going back there makes me feel even more down now...
