CorgiShinobi
http://www.gametrailers.com/video/review-zelda-skyward/723946 Of all the reviews, GT sounds like they're slamming it hard. The score says otherwise, but I couldn't help but get the feeling all that could be said is, "Everything you love about Zelda is here, but I'll talk about negatives because that's all that can be said." TheMightyEthan
Sure it looks pretty in stills, but how does it play in practice? I've had nothing but trouble trying to get Dolphin to work.
Battra92
Sure it looks pretty in stills, but how does it play in practice? I've had nothing but trouble trying to get Dolphin to work. I don't know anyone who has been able to get Dolphin to work. All I want to do is to use it to play my disc version of Wind Waker. Maybe when I upgrade my PC I'll figure it out ... jimmuhpage
I've only played GC games on Dolphin, and while it wasn't as difficult to get it to work as ePSXe, it took me quite a while to get a presentable performance. Smash Melee played too slowly, and Sunshine had issues with gunk textures not showing properly, but Wind Waker, the reason I got Dolphin in the first place, played fairly well all the way through. I also tried TP, but the slowdown was terrible no matter what settings I tried. Keeping in mind, this was back during Dolphin 2.0 and with my now 2 year old laptop specs not optimized for gaming at all (other than dedicated graphics). A moderately spec'd desktop should be able to run SS easily, I would assume.
BrainHurtBoy...2
I have Dolphin working, but I don't have Motion Plus. No Skyward Sword for me until I buy Motion Plus.
TheMightyEthan
I thought Dolphin could use a mouse to emulate the Wiimote. Can it not do Motion Plus? *Edit* - Did a little research: no it cannot emulate Wii Motion Plus.

FMW
Is this how it works with online ordering? Did I make a terrible mistake by ordering with my local retail establishment?? I must still wait 46 hours before playing this game! Unacceptable!
TheFlyingGerbil
it came out today (18th) in Europe. Suck on that bitches.

TheMightyEthan
I have never once received a game before its official release date. I feel left out. Also, I know we've been over this, but WHY THE SUNDAY US RELEASE?! Sunday is like the absolute worst day you could pick. It's like "we could have let you have this all weekend, but didn't cause we're dicks." Especially since I don't have a retailer in town that reliably gets games on release day, so I have to order it online, and no one delivers on Sunday so I won't get it until Tuesday. P4: Gritty Reboot
Yeah Nintendo has done Sundays for major game releases and consoles for a long time. I don't know why.
TCP
I just realized something... since I never owned a GameCube and I didn't get a Wii till two years after launch, so this is the first time a console Zelda has been released when I owned the system since Majora's Mask. I was excited then when I was 13, and holy crap am I excited now. Tomorrow!!!! Though I do really wish Nintendo would release games on Saturdays, if they wanted to do this whole weekend release thing, more time to play and EB Games is open earlier! 「Advent Chaos」
Okay so! The last trailer I watched was something for upgrading items or fetch quests or somethin', I remember Rockyryan mentioning that it wasn't a good pitch trailer because it made it look boring and I had agreed. HOWEVER! I'm still pretty excited, I've heard tiny bits of the music and it has given me continuos eargasms, my only regret is that my headset is not compatible with the wii and my TV speakers are not that great. I've only seen GT's review and well... yep, I feel like I'm not as excited as I should be, but I'm sure I'll enjoy it nonetheless. I got SUPER lucky on Saturday, went to three Gamestops and none were taking pre-orders for the wii remote bundle, but BestBuy saved the day, I'm already awake so I'll probably kill time 'til 10:00 AM. I ended up skipping a couple of posts in this thread, sorry mates, but I'm staying as clean as I can. Anywho, I think the excitement is finally settling in, I woke up at 3:00 AM and haven't been able to go back to sleep (granted I fell asleep at 10:30 on a Saturday... EXCITING TIMES). I'm also really worried about purchasing it though, I hadn't been able to save up so I'm using income that's meant for food and gasoline so I can go back to the parents on the upcoming turkey week, my stomach is crying, but my brain is excited. This better be worth it guys c:

FMW
Due to internal politics, I am unable to buy the game until 12:45 or so. I am then unable to play it until 2:00 or so. It is currently 8:30. I am able to chill with the soundtrack CD between 12:45 and 2:00, so that span of waiting won't be too terrible I suppose. Right now though... eugh. AC, I look forward to comparing notes with you tonight
「Advent Chaos」
Due to internal politics. I look forward to comparing notes with you tonight Internal politics? how does that work out? I can only imagine your organs fighting over some sort of bill or law. It's 8:00 Am right now with me, I'm gonna cook my self some eggs and play some other games then head out to BestBuy, excitement still present! Ahaha... I passed out on MGSHD for this, so yes I'm also lookin' forward to geekin' out. There's still some guilt over not having finished some quests in TP, but school's been kicking my ass as of late. Have patience with me though, this is my 2nd LoZ and I'm a slow learner! (12 hours in, I'm finally starting to understand Resonance of Fate's mechanics)
FMW
It's cool dude. I definitely never finished all the quests in Twilight Princess. I wouldn't want to. It would kind of kill the appeal for me to have found/done everything in Hyrule. Much of my appreciation comes from discovering more and more on subsequent playthroughs of these games. If ever there were a Hyrule where there wasn't anything new to discover... it doesn't bear thinking about. As for internal politics, I just meant politics within the home. My sister and I split this game 50/50. She's religious and has obligations at church until 2:00 PM. I can't start playing without her. I can pick it up with her between some of these obligations, but there isn't enough space to begin playing. Also AC, it sounds like you'll be facing some internal politics of your own in the near future... http://www.smbc-comics.com/index.php?db=comics&id=2235#comic

AC, I look forward to comparing notes with you tonight I hear you there. It snowed last night, now I have to drive my girlfriend to work at 12:15, which doesn't leave me with enough time to go to the only EB Games in town that opens before noon on Sundays (11) so now I'm stuck playing the waiting game (which is not as awesome as a Zelda game). The best part is she works till 5:30 so I have over 5 hours of uninterrupted gaming!!

Battra92
My copy is set to arrive at my parents' house tomorrow via UPS. I most likely won't visit my parents until Wednesday at the earliest. Between Thanksgiving and Pikmin 2, I think this will sit on my shelf for a bit. My sister already has her Wii set up in my old bedroom ready to play her copy of it (the Wii had been at our grandparents' house where she spends the weekends assisting my grandmother with household stuff) I'll be annoyed if she beats it before me. How's the Soundtrack CD?
TCP
My copy is set to arrive at my parents' house tomorrow via UPS. How's the Soundtrack CD? It's good! Worlds better than the Mario CD last year. The Orchestration is awesome and well recorded (it sounds so warm, you'd think it was vinyl), it's just a little short, there's so much more they could have done. The opening medley is the best, with theme's from most (all?) of the games... I forgot how good Spirit Track's theme song is. But the CD is not as good as but really, what is?It's too bad Nintendo hates Apple, they could record a lot of more of these and throw them on iTunes and they'd probably do pretty well.
