Outkastprince
You know, I enjoy going through gaming forums at times for a good conversation and made the mistake of visiting the one from FAQ. There was a thread on a Fallout: NV perk called "Confirmed Bachelor" which supposedly makes your character gay. Without fail we had the typical hatred from those who were angry that they chose a perk that they didn't know made their character gay (Explains why some NPCs hit on me, I just thought I was hot), but I sort of understood the argument made on both sides. One side argue that a few conversations didn't make their characters gay at all, and the 10 percent damage? you got from choosing the perk didn't hurt. The other side felt since they were role-playing a straight character, that not wanting to choose a gay perk made them homophobic. So the question is, how do you guys personally feel about this? Does a perk having gay implications affect your decision on whether or not you should choose the perk? And another question, what if Link from Zelda fame was made to be a Gay character, would that affect you at all? Do you ever see a big time company making their next big star gay? If not, why? D-K
If Link was gay he'd probably go "y'know.. fuck this" at about dungeon 3 or so..
Mister Jack
Do these people not know what "Confirmed Bachelor" means? And even if you do, it's one of the best perks. You'd have to be a fool not to want it unless you're deliberately trying to challenge yourself.

Plus I don't mind the male NPCs hitting on me, just I rather be taken out to dinner before being anyone's dinner buffet.
deanb
You got a 10% damage perk and some extra conversation out of it. I don't see any issue in it. Can always choose not to hit the convo options with the [confirmed bachelor] tag next to them.
Mister Jack
Even if you're trying to "role play" or something you could say your character isn't gay but will still hit on gay guys to get non-sexual favors.
Chronixal
The 'role playing' argument seems a bit hollow. Given the amount of restrictions on even the most liberal and open video game RPGs, whining about a characters sexuality, which I'm certain up until that point didn't even cross their minds, seems a bit pointless. And does it even matter if the character is gay? Do these people walk out of films where the protagonist is gay?
Mister Jack
I'm not disagreeing with you, I'm just saying. From that mindset, that's how you should look at it.
MetalCaveman
Not really, I will look at the bonuses the perk has, if it's good (as it has been mentioned, it allows you do to more damage to male characters which is really helpful) I'll use it, I don't care about the gender of the character I'm playing as, not even in RPGs. As for the Link question, that would be interesting, but it wouldn't affect me at all. @Chronixal I've seen some people do that, I find it quite hilarious actually. Chronixal
Bugger me, I know our economy has regressed back to the era of the '30s but do our attitudes have to too?
Mister Jack
Wait... is this actually a Perk in the game? Or is it a fan Mod? It's a real perk. There's also one for females called Lady Killer, but characters of either gender can use either or both perks. The male one is far more helpful, though, since there are way more male enemies than female ones. I got both, though, just for the conversation options. deanb
Wait... is this actually a Perk in the game? Or is it a fan Mod? Yeah. Gives you 10% damage on male NPC's and extra convo options. Similar to the Black Widow n Child thingy perk.

docsfox
Both perks are available practically from the start and are pretty good. And if you have the prostitution mod installed...it makes it easier to whore yourself..................um, yeah.
topekaguy
Confirmed Bachelor is considered a homosexual perk? Neither the name, the art nor the description gave any indication of that. Confirmed Bachelor is a euphemism for a gay man. The icon art shows Vault Boy giving a massage to a naked Vault Boy with a heart floating over his head. I'm amazed that people look at that and sincerely come away thinking, "Hey, looks like a couple of bros just having a good time and giving a friendly massage." TheMightyEthan
Not to mention the fact that the description is exactly the same as the hetero seduction perks.
CorgiShinobi
I was gonna say, though I don't have New Vegas (waiting for possible GOTY Edition), there's no way Bethesda would be that subtle when it comes to a perk. I mean, I don't think the euphemism is said often, but what comes to mind when you think "Confirmed Bachelor?"
TheMightyEthan
I've actually never before heard that as a euphemism for being gay. When I hear "confirmed bachelor" I think more of a straight manslut. That said, upon seeing that perk it was still incredibly obvious to me that it made you gay. brida
Having the option to say something homosexual is not the same thing as making your character gay. It's true for anyone: when you're speaking to someone of the same sex, you have the option and the ability to say something homosexual to them. The option is there. You probably won't take it because you're heterosexual, though, but it doesn't mean you don't have the option or the ability to.
TheMightyEthan
Okay, yes, I agree. What I meant was "the description obviously will give you gay dialog options."
Mister Jack
If it meant I'd avoid a potential fight to the death, I'd drop pickup lines on a horse.
ttocs
Someone said it already but the way I see it is that you can justify it by saying "Sure, I'll do whatever it takes to get what I want. I'll flirt to get things for free"
Zenia-chan
I think maybe I have this perk IRL. I'm not actually gay or bi, but sometimes people assume I am when they first see me...perhaps I'm just inherently good at acting? Heh. But anyways, we're just talking about a game. I think I'd get this perk mostly for the damage boost, but the extra conversation options sound like they'd be fun to mess around with.
