Amnesia: The Dark Descent

I was somewhat disappointed. I bought the game on Halloween weekend, started drinking scotch and played it for a few hours.

During that time, I was never really freaked out. I thought it would come on like Silent Hill - eventually, to the point where I can't bring myself to play the game anymore, I'm so freaked out.

But it didn't happen while I played.

I suppose I'll have to give it another shot eventually.

Hahaha video was pretty funny. I can imagine he was probably legitimately scared but was exaggerating his reactions since he had an "audience".

I tried the first Penumbra game a while back and it's actually pretty creepy. I remember at one point I hid behind a crate not because the game told me to but because I was genuinely afraid about a noise I'd just heard and was in no hurry to find out what was around that next corner

I debated grabbing Amnesia last week-end when it was 50% off on Steam, but figured it would probably be on sale again before I ever got around to playing it.

from everything i've heard it's supposed to start slowly so you probably stopped playing right before stuff starts going down

The boxart. Well done THQ, well done. dry.gif

That can't be real.

Lmfao. It can't!

What a game. Not only is it the scariest thing I've ever played- but it's also one of the most clever in it's narrative design and story. If you actually immerse yourself in the game world as they tell you to at the beginning, the story becomes surprisingly addictive and compelling; countered by sheer evil terror.

EDIT: On that picture- isn't the THQ logo at the bottom right totally not the real THQ logo? Fake?

That box art makes the game look like a cheesy b-rated sitcom. Maybe with a bit of drama on the side, but seriously, it's awful.

As for the game, I played the demo and loved it. As for scariness, I did not find it all that scary for some reason. I only flipped out once: I accidentally got eaten by the water monster and died. When I continued the game, the water monster didn't seem to be there anymore. So, I continued on with the game by cranking open that huge door and the thing startled the living daylights out of me.

I'm assuming that the game is a lot scarier than the demo. Overall, it seemed very well made~ I should buy it.
