rainetemplar
So I got this game a while ago, but I just CAN'T bring myself to play this. It's just too terrifying. It's a love/hate thing really. Anyone here that worked their way through it? How did you like it?
Mister Jack
I'm hoping the steam treasure hunt puts it on a discount. I'd pick it up then.
Chronixal
The first I'd heard of it was from Yahtzee's review of it. As for whether I intend to play it, probably not because I'm a massive wuss and barely managed to bring myself to buy Dead Space. Which oddly enough, wasn't so scary. Cyber Rat
I'm hoping the steam treasure hunt puts it on a discount. I'd pick it up then. Dude, it was on sale this whole weekend. -50% at that.
Mister Jack
Ah for fuck's---Well hopefully they'll put it up again at some point.
TheForgetfulBrain
I was somewhat disappointed. I bought the game on Halloween weekend, started drinking scotch and played it for a few hours. During that time, I was never really freaked out. I thought it would come on like Silent Hill - eventually, to the point where I can't bring myself to play the game anymore, I'm so freaked out. But it didn't happen while I played. I suppose I'll have to give it another shot eventually.
Mister Jack
You were drunk. Full of the liquid courage. It's not a fair assessment!
TheForgetfulBrain
Sober survival horror? I don't know if I can! Maybe next Halloween.
deanb
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=loSzpvq73FY I was forwarded this a couple days ago.I'm still unsure if the guy is faking it or on something while playing.
MetalCaveman
I've been watching these vids: Not as scary as they should be thanks to the voice-over but still, I'm now interested in the game.

Trust me, if youre playing in the dark with your headphones on.. that will happen to you too. Still, that was hilarious!
toxicitizen
Hahaha video was pretty funny. I can imagine he was probably legitimately scared but was exaggerating his reactions since he had an "audience". I tried the first Penumbra game a while back and it's actually pretty creepy. I remember at one point I hid behind a crate not because the game told me to but because I was genuinely afraid about a noise I'd just heard and was in no hurry to find out what was around that next corner I debated grabbing Amnesia last week-end when it was 50% off on Steam, but figured it would probably be on sale again before I ever got around to playing it. SomTervo
The boxart. Well done THQ, well done. via @quinns108 That can't be real. Lmfao. It can't! What a game. Not only is it the scariest thing I've ever played- but it's also one of the most clever in it's narrative design and story. If you actually immerse yourself in the game world as they tell you to at the beginning, the story becomes surprisingly addictive and compelling; countered by sheer evil terror. EDIT: On that picture- isn't the THQ logo at the bottom right totally not the real THQ logo? Fake? Enervation
The boxart. Well done THQ, well done. via @quinns108 =\ That is the worst box art ever. Way to spoil crap before players even open the box.
Cyber Rat
That cover is the most inappropriate cover I have ever seen for a game. And I have seen them, don't think I haven't. DON'T YOU DARE THINK I HAVEN'T. I owned a Sega Master System dammit.
Enervation
Are they trying to pass off Daniel as Nathan Drake or something?
Cyber Rat
You know that shoop where you see a funny face among 2 or more faces and then paste the funny face on the other face? That is one of those pictures.
excel_excel
The boxart. Well done THQ, well done. via @quinns108 HE'S ABOUT TO FIRE HIS LAZER! seriously though. horrible, horrible box-art
Jackpot
That box art makes the game look like a cheesy b-rated sitcom. Maybe with a bit of drama on the side, but seriously, it's awful. As for the game, I played the demo and loved it. As for scariness, I did not find it all that scary for some reason. I only flipped out once: I accidentally got eaten by the water monster and died. When I continued the game, the water monster didn't seem to be there anymore. So, I continued on with the game by cranking open that huge door and the thing startled the living daylights out of me. I'm assuming that the game is a lot scarier than the demo. Overall, it seemed very well made~ I should buy it.
slatz_grobnik
If that box art is real, the only possible justification is that it's a plot on the part of Big Game to prove the commercial inviability of small development shops.
