Mister Jack
Oh man what a win for Sony if the PS4 was 50 bones less. 100 less! Ahahahahahahahahahaha!

Mister Jack
Every PS4 comes with an HDMI cable, a headset, and a 500 GB HDD. The Eye camera is sold separately.
TCP
Where are you getting that from? I'm hearing Eye is included.

CorgiShinobi
Including the camera for motion games, or as a control option in games, would bump up the cost of the SKU. It probably would have made it $450, so if it's optional, don't include it. HDMI cables are cheap, and I highly doubt the included headset will be beyond average quality, but it's there to foster the socialization aspect adopted for the PS4. Mister Jack
I'll probably end up buying the camera at some point anyway but I don't need it tacked on to the price of the console right now. Sony did right by me here.

Mr. GOH!
If I ever get a PS4, I'm not gonna get the Eye or Move. Motion control bullshit ain't for me. PS+ is a good deal; I have no problems with it being required for multiplayer.
TheFlyingGerbil
but now that gold offers free games (albeit that offer doesn't seem as good as Sony's) the are basically supplying the same offer at free and at paid levels in the eyes of the average consumer, so they are not distinguished against MS now. Not a problem if you already see the value in PSPlus but it no longer has that bullet point to encourage people to their side instead of MS's.
deanb
The "free games thing" though is currently offering just 2 pretty old games, and will only be running until the launch of Xbox One. It's seemingly not a permanent PS+ alternative that they're aiming to create. (which probably explains why it was a rather quick announcement than something fully fleshed out.) TheFlyingGerbil
you can argue shades of grey all you want over which offer better value* but the internet sees arguments in black and white and PS+ and GOLD are now the same colour. *I think PS+ has the best balance of free vs. paid still, for what it's worth. But the multiplayer thing is a massive blow, being as it was pretty much the biggest and easiest to explain, most black and white PS3 USP.
Faiblesse Des Sens
What if I told you I would continue pay for PSN+ but multiplayer gaming on a console means nothing to me?
TheFlyingGerbil
I would say we are in the same boat. but there is a very much bigger multiplayer ship steaming off into the distance.
TCP
Just pre-ordered my PS4, so excited. The Gamestop people were trying to tell me that PS4 might come out in October, I don't know if I buy that. One thing that was interesting: they've gotten way more Xbox preorders than PS4 today, but they also noted this city is way more Xbox focused. What if I told you I would continue pay for PSN+ but multiplayer gaming on a console means nothing to me? This. Multiplayer isn't something I'm willing to spend 60 dollars a year on, but it is nice to have as an option. So while, someone like me, and sounds like you as well, don't get the full value out of Xbox Gold, PS+ is just right.

Mister Jack
It actually kinda baffles me that your city still seems to prefer the Xbox at this point. I mean the 360 and ps3 were mostly on even ground but now those people are literally paying more money for a weaker console with drm. It's not even close anymore. I guess they must really want the exclusives or something.

Waldorf and Statler
Yeah Xbox Fanboys are gonna use that DRM news as ammo but the reality is quite different. Microsoft has their own DRM in place in their console with the no trading and online connectivity issue. Sony has no forced online. That means that third party developers, unless the game is strictly multiplayer, can't FORCE you to have some form of internet-DRM to play the singleplayer. Imagine the shitstorm if you pop in a game in a console where offline is an option and it tells you "To play this game you need to log in and input your key". That works with multiplayer games. EA already dropped online passes so I think they're betting their chickens on the Xbox One bringing in enough new game revenue to account for 'losses' the PS4 will bring. But if the PS4 does end up selling more or about the same they can't just drop support. Ubisoft shouldn't have an issue as they haven't dropped their online pass system, and Activision never truly got past it and might just keep up the season pass system which makes them bucketloads. What I'm saying I guess is the same as Cowboy. This is no different than what is currently in store with PS3 and 360. EA/Ubisoft/Activision know the console isn't forced to use online so they can't force full-game DRM. Indie developers are getting a boost in the PS4. And w/ Sony allowing first party titles to be used as people want, if these publishers decided to not allow trading of used games when other publishers and Sony allow it they'd get SO much negative attention. Sony handed them a loaded revolver and everybody else on the table passed on trying to shoot themselves. The publisher can choose to take the risk and fuck over consumers and get their brains blown or not participate as well and make slightly less money. I can't think of a single publisher that would willingly fuck themselves over so basically I can assure it's no DRM and being able to trade games for the most part.
TheMightyEthan
Sony has been saying for ages that DRM is up to the publishers.
