Faiblesse Des Sens
I think what we're seeing here is just clarification of things like this due to the gigantic outcry about the Xbox One more than it is Sony themselves wanting to talk about this. They though clearly enjoyed shoving the other aspects like game lending in their faces.
Waldorf and Statler
Clarification is nice, especially after the small outcry over PS+ yesterday. But like others have said if you have a PS and don't have PS+ you're doing it wrong.
Popular Post Saturnine Tenshi
Or you don't want to pay a fee for games you don't care to play, and don't really own, and don't purchase games on PSN enough for the "deals" to matter.
WTF
I'm getting the PS3 because I like their franchises in general and it's a bit more powerful. It's as simple as that for me. Also i do like it's design a bit better and it's only about as big as the slim (slightly smaller actually) based on the dimensions that we know. It's an incredible formfactor for the device because it actually includes a disc drive. I'm all about form factors (Damn you Lian-Li!) Edit. Not keen on the paywall but I already knew about the other things before the conference so it was easy to swing that way. However I do wish they dropped the online passes and intead raised the price of Plus slightly or give a cut since it would actually paint them as more consumer-friendly. RIght now they're getting credit for something they'd dropped serious consideration ages ago and are pulling a marketing 1-2. Waldorf and Statler
http://www.gamefront.com/sony-third-party-drm-refers-to-playing-used-games-online-only/ Sony just clarified for the better. If you don't want to clink the link basically what it says is that it's the same as the PS3's for online gaming. They will strictly enforce that playing single player/offline won't have DRM but that publishers have the option to enforce used game multiplayer/online stuff.
toxicitizen
Don't know if it's already been mentioned but I just realized the new PS Eye isn't included with the PS4. That seems weird. I would've expected them to try and push it more, like Microsoft is doing with Kinect. The only problem with Move was that no one did anything with it, presumably because it seemed like no one owned the damned thing. Seems like a missed opportunity. By ensuring that every PS4 owner has one, they could get some solid support for it. Now it looks likely that things are going to stay pretty much the same, which is a shame. It's a pretty good controller...
Waldorf and Statler
I'm actually glad it's not. Six-axis and cameras and other stuff is gimmicky for me. It's like Iris. Oh look how cool I can talk to my iphone. Wait this is silly, I can do things faster by typing it out myself.

Strangelove
Im glad the PS Eye isnt packaged in. I dont want them to try to shoehorn it in to everything. I like the thing as an accessory, not a necessity.
CorgiShinobi
Amazon Video Games put up a poll to see which console is the people's choice. Not many people have voted, but I mention this because I think the difference between the two numbers speaks for itself. PS4: 5178 votes Xbone: 538 votes
Waldorf and Statler
I'm flabbergasted [high vocab points] by the amount of people with devil advocate syndrome somehow inventing ways publishers will be able to force DRM on the PS4 so they feel better about choosing the Juan. It really is the most creative bullshit I've seen. And the easiest answer as to why it won't happen is "look at every game today". When Diablo 3 is mentioned they fail to recognize that had a huge scandal behind its choice. I'm not even sure if Blizzard said that single player on consoles has to be online. Waldorf and Statler
If so then we have to consider both Blizzard and console's rules there.
WTF
@W&S It's cognitive dissonance while one can't deny that those who've always been in Sony's camp are enjoying some good old Schadenfreude. They can't be like oh it's so bad for just one company, it must be for both cause that way it's universal. /end of the direct reply . Oh about the PS+ fees. It's now confirmed that there are no online passes from first party games and they do not have a system in place to support online passes so if a third party publisher wants to place online passes then they have to implement their own system. They do not actively support it and thus don't think third party pubs would either. I suppose that means they'll try and pay third party pubs a bit more via plus. So we won't have both as was the case of MS and 360 in the last couple of years. I think that actually would be a fair trade. USD 49.99/ £39.99 plus the fact that one sub works on a system. Online gaming should've been as it always was but if they are doing away with Online passes that's not bad since for those who do play several MP games outside of the current benefits of plus if I'm not mistaken that's the yearly cost of 4-5 online passes on average? f2p might not be behind a paywall at the mo it seems to be on a case by case basis. Closed platforms. Oh well.
deanb
I'm hoping PS3 eye will work with with PS4. And dropping it from being bundled is likely what's helping them keep costs significantly lower than 360. Move sold well enough. Anyway here's a video of it in action. I've yet to fully watch because I'm dashing out.

That only applies if you bought the game used though, if you bought the game new the online pass was typically included in the package. I would imagine most people who cared enough about multiplayer to buy 4-5 online passes a year were probably buying their games new for the most part. Waldorf and Statler
I just realized the Paywall and F2P don't go hand in hand for the most part.

Waldorf and Statler
So Kotaku just wrote an article about Sony not being clear. And by not being clear, it means they're reading WAY too much between the lines. http://kotaku.com/sony-still-a-little-vague-about-third-party-used-games-513032471 Totilo even added an update where he justified his sentiment, but he basically reiterated what he said before.
Mister Jack
It's really not that hard to understand. Sony can't control what third party publishers choose to do, but they won't do drm themselves and they didn't build it into the console.
