TheMightyEthan
Goddamnit, now I'm tempted to go see if my local Walmart has any. I'd like to try playing Arkham Origins with it.

Mister Jack
I tried that one. I mentioned it in the review.
Faiblesse Des Sens
Ah, derr, read through it too fast to see when you specifically mentioned it. In your review of the games you don't mention that you had it enabled so I just assumed you hadn't tried yet. Hopefully it does get updated soon. The main things I'm looking for with a next-gen controller are easy wireless and easy setup. While the 360 controller required no setup you had to buy a $20 adapter (that was kind of rare) for wireless. For PS3 you had to buy a very specific bluetooth dongle for MiJ. No idea if the other method has more options but all I know is that it doesn't seem to pick up my controller with the adapter I have. Mr. GOH!
IIRC, the x360ce thing needs a dedicated dongle for BT to work. Like, it can only ever be used for your ps3 controller.
Mister Jack
From what I can tell x360ce can tell that you have something plugged in, but it doesn't comprehend what it is yet and will give you multiple results for each button. The triggers and sticks in particular really confused it.
Popular Post Mister Jack
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T2BNmn8TYdE The Dualshock 4 is 100% PC compatible In my earlier review I mentioned that I couldn't get the DS4 to work with x360ce. I've gone back and tried it again and I can confirm it works. I was able to play Portal 2 and Castle Crashers with no issues or oddities whatsoever. I did have to do a few things to make it work, but it's nowhere near the headache that is motioninjoy. First, I had to download some .dll files from Microsoft's webpage. Apparently the files that come on a Windows 7 install are damaged somehow and need to be replaced with updated versions. Once I did that x360ce picked up the DS4 with no problems. It even had all the buttons, sticks, and triggers mapped where they needed to be with no need for me to make any corrections. As for getting the games to work with it, once you put the x360ce files in the folder with the game's .exe file, you have to open up the x360ce.ini file and under where it says [Options] you have to type in "Version=1" and save it. You have to do this for every game you use the emulator with, and don't forget to do it or the game might not work at all. Once I did, however, it worked just like I hoped it would. Maybe at some point in the future they'll release an update that makes this extra step unnecessary, but it's not much work at all considering the trade-off is being able to use what is probably the best PC gamepad ever. Unfortunately, my pc does not have bluetooth so I cannot give a first-hand account on whether or not it works, but I have been told by outside parties that it does. FredEffinChopin
Thanks for all the details, Jack. Any info on whether or not one can use it wirelessly yet? I'm assuming it uses bluetooth as its predecessor did, but I know that getting that to work properly on PC was a task. If I can get it working today, I'll be hunting for one today. TheMightyEthan
Once you got it working with x360ce did it register R2/L2 as analog or are they still digital?
Mister Jack
It seems to pick them up as analog but for some reason R2 was a lot more sensitive than L2 to the point where it might as well have been digital. And it's supposed to work wirelessly from what I've heard but again, I don't have bluetooth so I can't test it myself.

Strangelove
Apparently you cant play mp3s on the PS4. And apparently people on the internet are losing their shit about it. Hmm.
TheMightyEthan
My reaction to that is the same as my reaction to it not playing audio CDs: weird, but not really a problem.
Strangelove
Only time i ever listened to music on my PS3 was while playing Wipeout, but I do that on my Vita now. And sadly, Liverpool Studio is no more, so no future PS4 Wipeout to speak of either.
Faiblesse Des Sens
My reaction to that is the same as my reaction to it not playing audio CDs: weird, but not really a problem. Ditto. I rarely used this feature and I can't imagine it's a game changer. Do people really want to put in the effort to load up their PS4s with their own music? I think a bigger loss is the media server capabilities. Perhaps Sony just thinks everyone else has another device that can handle this? Which given the trends these days is probably true. TheMightyEthan
I can see it being a bigger deal if you play a lot of sports or racing games. Those are the kinds of things that I do like to have my own music with.
TCP
Easily solution: just be a hipster like me and purchase your music on vinyl!
Mister Jack
Does the Xbone still do those things?
Faiblesse Des Sens
Does the Xbone still do those things? Not sure yet. I think we might need a huge FAQ from them for all of the nitty gritty details of file format support and all of that shit.
deanb
Well on the PS4 side all this info is coming from their huge FAQ: http://blog.us.playstation.com/2013/10/30/ps4-the-ultimate-faq-north-america/ They actually have a minim size requirement of 160GB, which might imply in future SKU's a cheap-o/er 160GB PS4 is in the works like the 20GB PS3 (and current 12GB PS3) As for the whole media limitations, at the end of the day lack of music playback ins't a huge issue, I can't think of any time I've hugely bothered with it and I guess maybe future plans to add stuff like Spotify and such anyway. the DLNA is a bit of an issue mind, but given my PC is usually a huge cock about streaming I just copy things onto flash drives to play anyway. One thing of note is so far I've seen folks complain about the lack of CD playback, but nothing about the lack of analog video output. Mister Jack
I'm not too thrilled about it not supporting flash drives either. I would transfer videos from the pc to the ps3 so I could watch it on a bigger screen.

I'm a little confused about this kind of thing, because the same FAQ says that you can install the day-one update from a flash drive, so obviously it has some kind of support for them. I just took the "no external storage" thing to mean you couldn't put your games on it, not that you couldn't use it at all.
