Also the AC4 passport codes aren't working, which isn't that big a deal because they patched them out, but to get the patch you have to run AC4 and then exit all the way back out of it (not just return to dashboard, you have to actually close the program).  Then the next time you start the game it will apply the patch.

*Edit* - To tell whether you have the patch highlight the game on the dash, hit the options button and select information.  The patch makes it version 1.01, the disc is version 1.00.

Just tried out remote play.  Both over my home network and through direct connect there is a small amount of latency.  It's perfectly manageable for Assassin's Creed, but a twitch shooter would be unplayable I think.

*Edit* - I shouldn't say unplayable, but it would be difficult.  The latency is comparable to my HDTV if I forget to put it in game mode.

What's the tolerance for distance for remote play? What kind of router do you have? Is it wired to the PS4 or do you connect over wifi?

Curious after reading the clusterfuck (as in the writer had no idea how remote play works) Kotaku article on remote play. Also want an idea of what I could expect once Steam remote play happens, as I'm fairly certain it will operate in a very similar way.

I've got a gigabit/802.11n network.  Two of this router (one in AP mode):  http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007KZQM9Q/ref=oh_details_o04_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The PS4 is connected to the router with a wire, gigabit connection.  I was on the other side of the house when I tried it (maybe 30 feet away in a straight line), but the signal strength seemed fine, there was no stuttering and the video quality was fantastic, there was just some input latency.  I experienced the same latency when I connected directly to the PS4 rather than through the network, although in that case the signal strength wasn't as good and I did get some video issues as a result.

For some reason in Assassin's Creed IV when I logged in today it was saying again that I didn't have the Passport, but this time when I entered the code it redeemed properly, so I'm hoping that issues taken care of.

I also seem to have found a fix for the already redeemed codes not showing up for download:  go to store.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com and you can view your download list on there, and from that list you can tell it to download to the PS4.  If it says it's available to play on the website but you still don't have it on the PS4 then you need to go into data management on the PS4 and delete the game content (not the saves), go back to the website and tell it to send the content again, and then reinstall the game.  After that the content should work properly.  Kind of a ridiculous workaround, and hopefully they'll fix the download list on the PS4 soon so it works more like the PS3 one.

For any games that you own that you need to download, in the store go to your library page and download it from there, there won't be a download link on the game's store page.

So I just spent 3 hours playing AC4 via remote play, and now I can give a much better opinion about it.

There is latency, but after a couple of minutes I was adapted to it enough that I only noticed it if I was looking for it.  It's not a problem at all for Assassin's Creed, even in combat I didn't have any trouble at all, and while I still wouldn't recommend trying Killzone or CoD multiplayer you might be able to make it through the singleplayer okay.  Actually at this point I think the sticks on the Vita would be a bigger impediment to that than the latency would be.

I was playing over my home network, not direct connect, because the signal strength is better that way.  The only time I ran into any problems was when my wife turned on the microwave, which made it start dropping frames and my latency probably doubled,  Even then it was still entirely playable, I just wouldn't recommend using your microwave all the time (probably good advice anyway).

So...looks like...-cough- that certain sites that had .mp4 "videos"-cough- won't work on the ps4...seeing as they have no media support? I guess.

And those videos were NOT from 'those' sites...but I'm sure 'those' sites with downloadable videos wouldn't work either.

Hope Sony allows at least the same amount of media support that the ps3 had...if not more. :|

So...true? False? Whatcha think?  I'm kinda leaning on false...but...

If True...fuck. Cause I'd imagine it'll affect Microsoft too...right?
