Eleven
Just a bunch of screenshots, Sony hasn't really confirmed anything, just that some new features are coming in the next update. But it seems to be console wide, as it's part of the (new?) accessibility settings menu.
TheMightyEthan
I wonder if it's truly an override or just a preference? I know 360 had the ability to set preferences such as inverted/non-inverted and look sensitivity, but it didn't actually force the settings it just asked the game to kindly use it please.
SomTervo
Looks more like an override to me. For 360 those settings were basically standard in all games - three difficulty modes, FP/TP perspective in racers, normal/inverted aim in shooters, etc. but this is by-button remapping. How many games have had that since the 7th gen? It certainly isn't a standard setting the console can advise the game on. And it would be really complicated to program overrides by app, so chances are it's system-wide. That's okay as long as we can access it quickly via the PS button though. Perhaps this is only a debug thing which was left in on the beta? That would be totally believable. TheMightyEthan
Okay, I see, I hadn't actually ever clicked through to the NeoGAF thread, so I hadn't actually seen the screenshot, just the short little description on the Engadget article.
TheMightyEthan
Apparently they're adding the ability to Remote Play and Share Play at 60fps, as well as a setting to have it automatically take a screenshot when you earn a trophy. So that's neat. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2015-03-12-ps4-update-2-50-adds-suspend-resume-and-more

Eleven
OK. Reading comments on articles about this update, lot's of people seem to want to delete 0% trophies. Any specific reason? Just so it's not cluttered and it would load faster? And I read there was already a hide trophies option. Just curious.
TheFlyingGerbil
Isn't there a stat somewhere that gives your average trophy completion percentage. Those zero percents will really drag that number down.
Thursday Next
As with most Trophy things, I don't get the fuss. They are handy as a checklist against "have I seen everything the game has to offer?" but beyond that, I don't care. If I only have 10% completion on a game I didn't like, it doesn't bother me, nor am I fussed if TLoU sits at 78% complete because I haven't collected every medal and played for 50 hours online or whatever. I've also played games after 100% completion (Journey for one) because they are just great games that I like to come back to.
TheMightyEthan
I care slightly more than TN, but as far as the 0% ones for me usually those are ones I booted but never played, or that somebody else booted while I was logged in before switching to their own account, so it's just a little irritating to see them in the list.
Popular Post Strangelove
I just want to change my goddamn wallpaper and icons to whatever I want like you can do on PS3 and Vita. I literally do not care about any other features.
SomTervo
It is mind boggling they didn't build that (really basic) feature in from the ground-up in this OS
FredEffinChopin
I've been very, very out of touch with general gaming news lately, and especially with game releases. Does anyone know of or anticipate any bundles other than the Arkham bundle that is coming out this summer? I'm trying to plan my PS4 purchase, and I just want to make sure that I'm not missing out on something more suitable if I pre-order that Batman bundle. SomTervo
There were a lot (a lot) of Bloodborne and The Last of Us bundle deals for a while, which all looked excellent. Barring that, there may be The Witcher 3 deals. Aside from that, I can envisage only Arkham Knight being the next big bundle-op on the horizon
FredEffinChopin
Thanks! Bloodborne might have been nice, but I actually have yet to complete Dark Souls 2, so maybe it's best that I missed out on that. Those TLoU bundles are still around, and I've been tempted by them, but I think I'd rather my first game on the console be a new one the more I think about it. Besides, a buddy of mine is going to get it on PS4, and I feel like I should take advantage of the last disc-based console generation and borrow it from him. Batman it is then. Definitely not a bad game to come in with.
TheMightyEthan
You know, people have been foretelling the end of discs for a couple generations now, and I've always been skeptical, but I think it could actually happen next gen.
Mister Jack
The only way we'll get an all digital future is if we drastically revolutionize broadband internet in the US. Data caps and download speeds as they currently stand just don't make an exclusively digital market practical for either consumers or vendors, regardless of our technology's actual potential.
Saturnine Tenshi
Yeah. : \ Whether that's good or bad I can't say. I have this irrational predilection for discs. DISCS OVER DISKS! DVDS BEFORE HDDS!
TheMightyEthan
But if we're looking at 6-7 years before next gen rolls around broadband status in the US could be a lot different. It's certainly a lot better than it was when around the time of the PS360 launches.
Saturnine Tenshi
Not by a wide margin, though. I think it'll take a widespread Google Fiber presence to really push the big cable companies to improve what they have. Seems to be the only thing that motivates them to do so. TheMightyEthan
Maybe I'm just lucky to have a good ISP, but I'm skeptical about that since I live in the Middle of Goddamn Nowhere and only have one real option for broadband.
Mister Jack
While it's possible, I don't think it's likely. Comcast and Co. are probably going to fight the march of progress for years and slow it down to a crawl with all the legal red tape. If not for them, we'd already be in a much better position than we are right now.
FredEffinChopin
So I used the gift credit from my PS4 purchase to snag this SSHD, which should be arriving at some point next week. I was just wondering if anyone else who has upgraded the HDD has any heads-ups in any regards. For example, after spending lots of time trimming the data in preparation for a PS3 HDD transfer, the process ended up taking up about the same long-ass time for it. Also a lot of stuff didn't seem to transfer correctly, and I had to re-download it anyway. If anyone knows of any such pitfalls, or anything else that might save me some time or frustration, I would really appreciate it. I love this fucking console btw. Game/app suspension (and the ability to have 1 of each of those open simultaneously) works so beautifully, and is one of my favorite parts of the experience. The store integration is actually not as obnoxious as I expected, and makes the store experience worlds beyond what it was on the PS3. I didn't even want to play anything at first. All I needed was store trophies and I would have spent even more time just browsing it for the pleasure of the improved speed and navigability. Remote downloading via browser works much better as well. While it's really obnoxious not to be able to store media on the drive, the ability to play background music at pretty much any time almost if not completely makes up for it. Especially since there are workarounds for video play. What there aren't workarounds for:There is still no official media remote (universal or otherwise) for this thing? What's up with that? Even the 3rd-party ones are complete ass, especially compared to the stuff like this that is available for the PS3. Without some other way to control this thing than a DS4, the PS3 stands to hold a place in my house for a much longer time than it would have otherwise. There are a couple of other little gripes I have as well, such as the inability to limit concurrent downloads, the deliberate difficulty they've tacked on for anyone who likes to log in and out quickly and frequently, and the locked-down wallpaper (exacerbated by the pathetic selection of paid, dynamic background - I don't think I would pay for a non-dynamic regardless of the quality). For the most part though, I'm pretty smitten with my new toy.
TheMightyEthan
I switched out the hard drive on mine and I don't recall having any weird issues with it.
