Thursday Next
Same here. Never had an Xbox so I'm immune from the Halo halo effect. No interest in Destiny at this point.
CorgiShinobi
Barely played Halo, ever. Only ever played some multiplayer from 1 and 2 something like six times. Got my brother-in-law Halo Anniversary, but never finished it when I was visiting. Still got Destiny and I love playing as a Hunter. If I didn't love the class so much and didn't have some amazing weapons, I could see myself not interested anymore. But I have Hawkmoon, and I would be insane to ever get rid of it.
TheMightyEthan
Yeah, the appeal is not limited to Halo goodwill.
deanb
So the DS4....anyway to make the battery last longer? I've found an option that dims (though can't disable) the light. But for most part can't really seem to get it last fully a decent length of time. Or maybe I'm playing more than I think I am.
TheMightyEthan
Mine typically lasts about 8 hours before needing recharged, just for reference. But yeah, it's not as long as say the Xbone controller.
Hot Heart
Everyone I know has had to buy a second PS4 controller to use while the other charges.
TheMightyEthan
Seems like a USB extension cord would be a cheaper solution.
TheFlyingGerbil
are you kidding with 8 hours?! My wii u pad lasts that long and has a bloody massive screen on it!

TCP
There is no possible way on earth the Wii U pad lasts 8 hours, or anywhere near as long as the DS4. Sorry Gerbil, but you're a bold face liar. Two DS4s is the way to go. I'm contemplating pre-ordering the grey 20th anniversary DS4. It'll be my third. TheMightyEthan
I have 2, but one is paired to the PSTV and one to the PS4. The real way to go is sit right in front of the TV like I do so the 5' cord that comes with it is more than long enough.
Thursday Next
I bought the pack with two ds4s at launch. I do typically have one on charge at all times. You could always attach a phone powerpack. It's all micro-USB after all.
TheFlyingGerbil
Does the DS4 charge while the console is in standby or does it have to be fully on? I hate charging my PS3 controller and I don't want to buy an accessory now it's near the end of it's life. The controller has never run low since I got it. Edited July 21, 2015 by TheFlyingGerbil

deanb
Which is what I have doing, so it's not a massive issue. Just kind of "huh, this seems to get to a single bar pretty quick". I guess maybe I should be a tad more scientific, get a full charge n time how long it takes to drain. Might just be I'm on my PS4 longer than I think I am. On the Gamepad front: it's the same reason despite a quad core chip my phone last so long is it's so large, meaning can fit in a huge battery. The Wii U extended battery is probably larger than the DS4.
TheFlyingGerbil
8 hours is rubbish compared to any standard controller I've used as well though.
FredEffinChopin
About fucking time someone came out with a universal remote. It looks like a nice one. I'm all over this thing. Just one more step towards making the PS4 as good as the PS3. *jab*
CorgiShinobi
I had one for the PS3, mainly for the folks as it was suppose to be the family Blu-ray player too. Never bothered with it for my own personal use as I always got by with the controller. Keep in mind I don't make the consoles that much of a media player, so they definitely have a use. TheMightyEthan
Yeah, I have the official one for PS3, it's really nice for bluray watching. I don't like using the controller because it has a tendency to turn off, making it difficult to pause and such on short notice.
TheFlyingGerbil
Isn't it easy enough to get your TV remote to control it with CEC control through HDMI. Works fine on my PS3
TheMightyEthan
I have everything running through a receiver, which I'm not sure passes the CEC or not. I've never actually tried it. Hmm...
deanb
"[person on your friend list] has joined a party you can join" Explain? (since I see it pop up fairly often and usually if I check out they're in like Destiny...which I don't own so can't join unless there's a feature I'm unaware of. TheMightyEthan
PS4 has system-level parties, so you can be in a party with them and chat with them even if they're playing a different game from you.
deanb
So I can jusut like pop in and be all "hi"..even though that's likely not the case of the person PS4 is suggesting I join their party.
TheMightyEthan
Yep. Although if it just says "so-and-so has started a party you can join" that probably means they didn't specifically invite you, they just started a party that's open to friends.
