the one I was looking at was 1tb, and I'm guessing was from around the time Starwars was released since that was a pack-in. It was the "C chassis" which i think is the latest one before the slim. too late now anyway. Probably for the best though, saved myself some money at least.

The PS4 Pro is so fucking dumb.

So I got one. I figured what the hell get in early so I can actually take advantage of the improvements on games I play like Rise of the Tomb Raider and later on FFXV!

Also due to SATA III load times seem to have been improved for SSDs, hopefully even SSHDs have very noticeable improvements in speed. Not that I would notice it since I'm putting the SSHD in day one. Gonna get back to playing Witcher 3 on it, maybe do another full run (who has the time???) so improved load times would be a huge help.

Yeah, given that's so far the only example I've seen I'm wary on the overheating issues. Could always be people blocking cooling, putting it right next to something else that's hot (it getting in winter people likely to be putting radiators n heater on).

The word on a few games looking somehow worse I put more stock in given it's Digital Foundry with those results.

So quick question:

If I was to back up my FFXV saves and take the disc with me and lean heavily on my brother n sign into my PSN account on his PS4, could I play FFXV on his console with my saves?

I like to think the backup thing in PS+ should really help in this regard.

I should note most of this is theoretical cos like while he's off viewing some post xmas racing so he's not gonna be on his PS4 for at least a day he never learnt the wonders of sharing as the youngest child n all.

Yes, you can log into his console and download your backed up saves.

The fact that the extra horsepower is now available to games even without a pro patch is pretty nice.  It obviously won't improve graphics, but it could certainly help a few games with performance issues.  Why that wasn't a launch feature is beyond me.

PS4 getting a "mini dualshock" aimed at kids.
https://blog.us.playstation.com/2017/10/18/introducing-the-mini-wired-gamepad-for-ps4/

Biggy for me is it's cheaper (mainly since it has no touchpad, vibration, sixaxis, wireless or headphone jack...god following apple like everyone). Assuming it comes to UK at a similar price point I'd happily pick up two, which'd give me four in total, great for letting smaller siblings join in n us adults have the regular pad.

One downside of PlayStation Vue, the DVR function doesn't update according to actual episode. It's only when the episode was originally meant to air. This means, while I got to watch FLCL Season 3 Episode 1 (April Fools airing), it didn't record the actual next episode of JoJo this past Saturday.

I've already seen all of Stardust Crusaders, but I let my father use my Vue account so he can watch JoJo in English. Eventually the episode will become On Demand, meaning a formatted video, though not always higher quality. I suggested he could download the VRV app on his Amazon Fire TV stick and watch it subtitled. He wasn't quite interested in doing that, so I ended up telling him about the episode.
