I'm sure the tone deaf response from the administration doesn't inspire much confidence in the third paycheck either.

"Work something out with your grocery store."

"Ask to do chores in lieu of rent."

"Just get a loan."

If you're a government employee, I can only imagine how terrifying it must be to hear that.

We're back open for three weeks. Almost guaranteed that we'll be back on for round two by then. If Trump and the GOP want a wall so bad, we can build one in DC. Thousands of people doing bucket brigade and shifts can get it done in a week at most.

So, is impeaching Trump an useless affair? Should the Dems be that concerned about optics (E.g., impeachment would drag into election year)? Or maybe I'm too quick to want to go for the throat and should wait for, maybe, the full unredacted Mueller report and let the adulting adults handle it?

Like I feel kind of pissed that I'm only a few miles from being in Nancy Pelosi's district so I'd can give a piece of my mind. Not exactly sure of my representative's (Jackie Speier) opinion on the matter... Nor my senators (Kamala Harris and Diane Feinstein).

Based on what's known now there's no way the Senate would actually remove him from office, so the only reason for impeachment at this point would be to appease Democratic voters. Whether that would do more harm than good for the Democratic party is anyone's guess.

That could conceivably change if more information comes out, but based on how blindly loyal the Republicans have been it would have to be something pretty fucking horrifying.

Ah, more cement to the idea of rules and laws means shit when you're at the top, even if you're the biggest bags of cocks, and if people are playing politics. I don't want, say, legalism but perhaps shit should happen? I know the law can be slow but it to me doesn't seem to be moving or wants to move. Like, sure, maybe we get everything done after the 2020 elections (I mean, it should practically be a freebie but... that's how most people felt in 2016) but I can't help but feel in a similar way how I felt after the 2016 primaries. In 2020 it might just be worse. I guess I'll have a firmer grasp of how I feel after the 2020 primaries...

I need some dumpster-fire-known-as-Brexit news to distract me.

Kind of odd (or not) how a couple states, back-to-back, passed or will pass restrictive anti-abortion laws. Alabama leads the pack. Probably want to get something into the Supreme Court to challenge Roe v. Wade with the current and possible future people on the bench.

School year is almost over so I guess we all can just slack off on the thoughts and prayers... just for the summer. But please don't stop, we got other places that it could happen to! People in churches, synagogues, mosques, temples or other places of worship got to pray extra hard.

The Gilroy gunman was taken down in less than a minute after he started firing. I applaud the officers quick response yet three young lives were taken before it was all done. Outside of the gunman walking into officers, there probably were no better outcome. This would be the norm if we were to arm schools and other public places to combat this hyperactive cycle of gun violence. Some places, like some synagogues, already do and I recall the Poway shooting ending in a similar fashion: armed people who were worshiping defended themselves against an attacker but not before lives were lost.

I am raging against the need for such a measure that is actually useless in addressing the problem(s). This line of policy is a failure even before the first shots were fired.  Sad thing is, this shooting won't change shit. It is merely statistics among the crowded list of gun violence. Can people have their security and dignity back?

(Dignity is probably a good lens to look at shithole countries towns and cities but it's a rant to be triggered another day)

Okay, if gun control doesn't work then we just have to straight up ban them then. Nationwide. Sure we'll have extreme cases (Christchurch and the Norway[?]) which, while not great, I would be able to live with.

Yes, I would rather have the general populous be able to handle such free gun ownership but obviously that is not happening. If we want to be such a militant country then, shit, we better enact group punishment like in the military. "But sir, it was their fuck up, not mines!" you say? Well tough shit. We're going to enact policy changes and we are ALL going to sit through all these Powerpoints.

Unfortunately as a Brit I can only tell you, knowing full well our own precocious situation, that your situation is pretty fucked. Guns as a method of law enforcement is f'ed up and knowing for 13% of your population calling on 911 could be a potential death sentence is not a great situation, to put it lightly.

Nah. Probably someone greased the hands of the guards to look the other way. Maybe even give threats along the lines of "Off yourself now or else.". I mean, there is worse fate than offing yourself.

Of course, there is the real possibility that the feds actually fucked up that badly. The government, despite what conspiracy theorists like to tell you, are human and have real human faults. Being Big Brother doesn't give them absolute mastery in everything.

But then again, this is Epstein we are talking about... who the fuck knows?

Man... if the likes of the Panama Papers (and other related stuff) doesn't phase the rich and powerful, I actually don't think being outed as pedo shit would do anything. "Rule for thee, not for me" sort of thing.

Idk, the official explanation seems the most plausible one to me: they were supposed to be checking on him every 30 minutes but they were overworked and just didn't, and he was supposed to have a cellmate but the one he had got transferred and due to oversight another wasn't moved in.
