A good deal of them (I might even be able to say all) are quite interrelated. I got to say, I can't help but think these problems arose from the American attitude that came with the US' rise. For most of US history, we either expanded out to greener pastures or technologically layered the old with the new. We have come to the point where we really can't expand out anymore due to dug in social, political and economic centers and/or environmental concerns (What nature gives us via the environment is the economic base). We are coming to the point that we can't bury or move away from these problems.

Eh. This might be coming from a bit of a gamer mentality but... If there ever comes a time that a presidential candidate that is rather isolationist, I would be happy to vote for him/her. We don't have Gauls, Franks or Huns knocking on our doors. We don't have to be the world's police. The world can watch itself as we deal with our own issues. Besides, MAD. If even the US doesn't dare to poke at North Korea then who in their right fucking minds will dare to poke at the US?

I love being American since living as one is pretty nice but god do we got problems to address. Some quite major 1st world problems.

Well, that is kind of close to my family over there... can I not have exploding neighborhoods being near myself (San Bruno pipeline) or my family (San Bruno pipeline and now this)? Thanks...

Looks to me like in New Jersey in order to be licensed to sell cars you have to be a registered car dealer, and Tesla was trying to sell the cars directly without going through dealers.  It may not make much sense to have the law be that way, but I don't see why the state wouldn't be allowed to do it.  It's just a business regulation, which is one of the functions of governments.

Tesla has physical show rooms in New Jersey to sell the cars from so it seems that it is specifically that car companies can't sell their own cars. It just seems quite restrictive, which in my mind is not very American and also that they've modified the law specifically with Tesla in mind, unless I'm just reading badly written articles.

The New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission (NJMVC) met today to approve a new regulation banning Tesla from selling its Model S in the state

...

On Monday, the NJMVC abruptly notified Tesla that it would meet to approve the rule change at a session today, bypassing a legislative process.

According to what I've read it was actually already the law that they weren't supposed to license businesses to sell cars unless the business was a dealer, but the MVC hadn't actually adopted the regulations to enforce that law.  They've been discussing doing so for some time, but Tesla has opposed it, which is why Tesla is brought up specifically.  All that happened was an administrative agency adopted regulations to enforce the thing that was already the law passed by the legislature, but news sites are making it some thing against electric vehicles for clickbait.

I was kinda shocked (not by the corruption at all) by the way the rest of the Senate democrats did not do any kind of in-depth investigation. They threw him under the bus and told him to GTFO.

If he vacates the seat, there will be a runoff for that position and the two parties are throwing money at the races as much as they can right now. With Vidak taking that seat in the last special election over a Latino Democrat, there has been some worry that the Rs might gain one more vote. Expect the Dems to donate about $300k to this election straight from party funds. It may not seem like a lot, but this is just the funds. Pelosi, Boxer, and Feinstein should be out in support of candidate X as well as a celeb or 2. This is when politics gets interesting instead of annoying.

He pushed some retarded legislation some of which he heavily contradicted. Kind of on the level of some diehard Republicans being homosexual (I think anyways). On regards on his seat... I'll be surprised if the Republicans can secure a seat for that location. Also can Feinstein just... mold away or something. Please.

Wasn't this posted... somewhere on here yesterday?

Not that I recall.
