Mal
What the hell, Atomsk? When the hell were you part of the 1%?
CorgiShinobi
I honestly don't know how Sony is sponsoring this thing, whether it was management or some guy had connections to make this even happen. All I know is that while I'm not wealthy, the rich kids on the highest floor are loaded and I get the benefits of these kids throwing their money around. I usually don't partake because I can't stand the "atmosphere" if you will, but this one time I think I'll tolerate whatever comes my way if I actually get something out of it. During Halloween there was something involving YouTube down the block, but I was driving 300 miles that night to not care.
TheRevanchist
Speaking of annoying political shit, the phone has been ringing all damn week, and I only expect it to get worse until Election Day. Ugh!
Luftwaffles
The best part about voting early is to be able to cut off people mid-sentence when they ask you if you'll vote for something.
deanb
Some guys on BBC today, as best I could tell one from Repubs and one from Democrats. They got rather heated, and we're not even voting no need convincing us of how good your candidate is. (especially since..oh it never got posted..yeah even our Tories prefer Obama by 90%). It was funny til I realised this was just a short segment on our tele. You guys must be getting it real bad.
CorgiShinobi
I get a massive amount of emails from/for Obama, and I get phone calls for Romney with one in particular being a recorded message from him. I usually avoid all the heated debate, but from what little I've seen I think we're in that "last word" stage where either side is trying to find anything to come out on top. "Facts? Who needs facts when the election is tomorrow! Obama-Biden/Romney-Ryan 2012!"
Mal
They can be heated enough and often enough that I think If we were like Taiwan, we would have fist fights in Congress and that people would bet money who would beat who. TheRevanchist
I got a call yesterday "We are calling about Prop 30". I said, not really recalling what Prop 30 was about, "I know that one. I'm totally against it!" The person stuttered and said okay and hung up the phone. Quite fun! deanb
It's a rise in income tax on the rich, and a minor raise in sales tax for everyone else. You 1%er.
TheRevanchist
I must be! The part I left out was they then called again less than a minute later, speaking to my wife who said she is for it. I laughed, because she, like I, did not want to be on the phone on my day off talking to what is essentially a telemarketer. And an hour later a telemarketer called. I just hung up. TheMightyEthan
I don't even answer the phone unless I recognize the number. I figure if it's important they can leave a message and I'll call them back.
TheFlyingGerbil
how soon after the voting tomorrow do you know who's won?
TheMightyEthan
It depends. Usually about 10 or 11 PM Eastern time we have a pretty good idea, but if a key state is close then it might be the next day, or even several days later.
Mister Jack
So an anonymous tipster who claims to work for "a reality TV show in NYC" which stars "a blond blowhard who is obsessed with our president" says that this certain show currently has a caravan of vans going into Yonkers to get a buttload of gasoline to be used for said show, even though there's currently gas rationing and shortages going on due to the effects of Hurricane Sandy. Now, there's a chance this claim is a hoax. But I'm betting it isn't.
deanb
Why is BBC saying only 150million are eligible to vote? Surely half the population isn't below 18 or in prison(..yeah? :\)
Luftwaffles
That sounds about right. Usually only 1/2 of the population is registered to vote, and then out of that one half we're lucky to get 60% that actually go out there and vote.
TheMightyEthan
Yeah, it's likely that's the number of people who registered in time.
TheRevanchist
Voting is hard to swallow when you have 2 shitty candidates that may win and another 6 shitty candidates who no one knows.
P4: Gritty Reboot
That's pretty close to correct. Observe: Population: 311,591,917 - Minors: ~76,000,100 - Incarcerated: ~2,500,000 - Non-citizens: ~32,000,000 Gets down to about 200,000,000. Of those, about 150,000,000 register to vote. Of those, about 100,000,000 get to the polls.
Mister Jack
I actually voted early and thank god I did because I do not like the thought of waiting in those lines.

Luftwaffles
Yay for small town. I went in, did my thing and left in about 10 minutes. Yay for mail in. I've been done with voting for a good week.
P4: Gritty Reboot
I did not get registered in time in my new county. So I could drive 2 hours north to vote, but I do not have a presidential candidate I support (my electoral vote goes for Obama anyway since I'm in California). I want to vote on the significant prop 30, but again it's not worth the drive to me. Oh well. If Prop 30 passes by 1 vote, you guys can blame me. Edit: and for the record I think Romney will trounce Obama. If I am wrong, I will publicly post tomorrow saying, "I was wrong".
