It seems everyone has now called it for Obama, including BBC. So well done US. Sound like it's still a Republican House though and all the issue that seems to entails (though BBC coverage has noted apparently Americans like it that way with the whole check n balances thing).

(And good news on LGBT Senator)

They actually done it. Can we kindly do something like this nationwide? I personally don't partake but I know a lot of people who do. Its just isn't that dangerous, at least not more than tobacco and alcohol. Also I'll be honest, one reason I'm all for it is so I can tell my friends and roommate to smoke outside. At the core of it, smoke and secondhand smoke are just no bueno.

Edit: A bit better source I suppose.

Washington state joins Colorado. Oregon didn't.

I don't smoke myself but I'm in favor of it simply because it could be very beneficial. Not only could it be a source of revenue for the government, but, more importantly, we are locking up way too many people for what is a completely harmless crime. Not only is that just plain wrong, but it's also a HUGE waste of taxpayer money.

I like how one of Trump's tweets is that the electoral college is a disaster for democracy, which implies that he thinks Obama lost the popular vote but won the electoral college. As of right now Obama is leading the popular vote 50.3% to 48.2% (I guess the other 1.5% went to third parties).

Also, the Republicans do still control the House, but it looks like it won't be quite as wide a margin as before. Dems took a majority in the Senate, but they don't really have "control" because of the filibuster.

Apparently 15% of people voting for Obama said that the main reason was because of his response to Sandy (which is obviously not true, that's just the thing that was in their head when asked the question).

I'm calling it now though: Obama intentionally caused Sandy so he could react well to it and thus win the election.

I love Trump's logic though. It's the same logic a lot of my friends in FB are using. "This Nation is divided the rest of the world is laughing at us!"

Yes because no other country wanted Obama to win and not to mention if YOUR fucking candidate had won you wouldn't be batting an eyelash and instead say the American people chose right you fucking hypocrite.

I REALLY REALLY hope the Republican party has a long and hard look at their current stances and change policies. They can't survive like this. Bush did too much damage to their image [though it really isn't entirely on Bush. I'd argue people like Lamar Smith and all the anti-gay sentiments don't help]. I don't like the idea of having to give away so much of my money and that's something I whole heartedly agree with the Republicans. If they can somehow get rid of their massive homophobia with their next candidate that'll be a step in the right direction.

Beeb had one of the Republican Strategists on and he was very open on the fact that the Republican party had clearly dropped the ball in going for "Angry white man over the economy", a tactic that apparently usually works for both parties. They needed to change their stance, though not their polices*, to engage latino voters, and they especially fucked up in ignoring the young voters Obama had mobilised in 2008. IUt also didn't help for the Republicans that Romney was their "not worst candidate and that he only gained momentum in the past month with the debates and the republicans should have gotten him out sooner to dispel the "big evil corporate demon from Bain Capital".

*for example they retain current stance on immigration, but instead of having an old white republican male giving this, they have a younger latino republican pushing the issue.

p.s it was a couple hours ago this was on, quotes are not direct.

Trump is funny cos as far as I'm aware Obama won both Electoral and Popular vote (though by a minute margin ). Also he's got the legal right, money, and view points to be able to run for president himself, so why the fuck doesn't he put his money where his toupee is and run? Oh yeah, cos he's a nutter.

Oh and Boris Johnson thinks it's all well and good Obama got four more years but he would very much like the US to pay their congestion charges.

I'll be honest, I try not to be the kind of guy who openly takes pleasure in the misery of others but after all the shit some of these republicans have been talking it is EXTREMELY satisfying to see them melt down like this. I mean, it seems like a lot of these people couldn't even fathom the concept of Romney losing and now their brains are practically smoking while they try to reconcile it. I prepared myself for the possibility of Romney winning but I was still pretty confident Obama would win, so part of me was actually looking forward just to seeing the reactions. Trump's twitter rage was just...MMM! The best.

That said, I have to admit Romney was pretty gracious in accepting defeat once he made his speech.

Although...

Bringing it back up again since they just voted on it. Puerto Rico may become the 51st state after all. They just need approval from Congress and such. Some of the hoops are rather big but doable. I for one welcome their oncoming union with our dysfunctional union.
