P4: Gritty Reboot
Would anyone be interested in a PXOD game/gift exchange for the holidays? Could iron out the details if there's enough interest, maybe a $10 or $20 limit depending on what people think is best. Steam/digital gifts would obviously be the easiest of course. EDIT: Alright, official rules: ----- 1.) Sign up by November 30. You'll receive your person's name around December 1, maybe 2 if I get lazy. 2.) Try to keep it around $10, not much more or less than that. If the person seems to want a $15 game no one's going to throw a fit though, same for $7 or $8 stuff. 3.) Update your Steam wishlist!!!! Very important. We are going to have to dig to find out what you want, and this is the easiest way. 4.) Steam, GOG.com, or other digital delivery service is fine. (I hear you can't gift on PSN/XBLA?). When I send you your person's name I will note his/her preferred service. Physical games or other gifts are probably not a good idea, though if you have something special in mind please message me to clear it. 5.) It's secret, so no telling or asking what they want: you've got to investigate it for yourself. 6.) Please try to give your gift on December 20. No earlier, but a week or so later will be fine if you're short on funds as some of us may be. 7.) If you encounter any problems or don't receive your gift by December 25, message me and I'll try to get it sorted out. 8.) We'll update this thread on the 15th and you can show off your shiny new gifts. ------ Merry Christmas and happy gifting!
Cyber Rat
Bit too far in the future for me to decide whether I can take part. I'll let you know in December when I see what money I have left from my PC purchase. I'd certainly like to, just a matter of whether I'll be able to. Luftwaffles
Sure. I dunno about shipping anything anywhere as UK shipping might outweigh the price of the item for a lot of people, but I would totally be up for a Steam type exchange. SomTervo
Yeah, depends on money. Which there probably won't be enough of. So I might just out now.
Connorrrr
Totally! Presuming I have money, of course, hah.
P4: Gritty Reboot
Let's assume that none of us know if we'll have money at the time, so we could give people a couple weeks' window to pony up so it doesn't have to be a specific date. P4: Gritty Reboot
Alright sounds like we've got enough to go forward at least. I'll see the best way to set it up and talk with Dean and the other mods about it
deanb
If it's only $10 and something on Steam (if it involves shipping $10 won't go far) I can probably join in.
Eleven
Steam or GoG? Lot's of stuff in GoG too. Maybe post your game library (raptr works fine i think)? So people could tell if you already have the game, or get a clue on what to get based on what you have?
Chewblaha
FYI I'm just buying you Bastion if I pick you.
P4: Gritty Reboot
Made up a sign-up form; deadline is November 30 and gift date is December 15. tinyurl.com/75f4daa
ADIRTYWINDOW
This is pretty neat. I'll sign up
deanb
It won't be automatically a click-able link because it's missing both a www. and a http:// on the start. The Dec 15th date might be a bit awkward purely because if people are looking to purchase on Steam that Dec 15th date is going to be extremely close to Xmas sales. Christmas sales for pretty much all services in fact.
P4: Gritty Reboot
Anyone know when Steam winter sale generally kicks off?
deanb
It's usually a 3-4 week period over Xmas. (so about 2 weeks before, 2 weeks after). I'm gonna guess that, given my purchase history, last year it started on the 13th.
P4: Gritty Reboot
Well I'm fine changing the 15th if we want to have some time with the sale. Maybe the 21st or 22nd? Just don't want to get too close to Christmas.
P4: Gritty Reboot
Everyone who signed up should have gotten a private message by now with your giftee's information. Please feel free to PM me if you have any problems at all.
deanb
There are trade sanctions in place with the country of the person you tied me too. Does that count as a problem? kidding For those not in the US: $10 = €7.45 = £6.40 For those using Steam for games $10 = £10 = €10 = AU$100 To make it real simple every game except Witcher 2 is under $10 on GoG. And on the right hand side of Steam is a "Under $10/£7" section.
P4: Gritty Reboot
Haha don't scare me like that. I'm just trying to be a big jolly Santa Claus Thanks for the conversion rates--also, we moved the date to Dec. 20 which should give yall some time with the Steam/other guys' holiday sales so you may want to wait. And by the way, I think you can buy a Steam gift and have it emailed to yourself so you can PM it later. Not sure on this but if so, then you can buy something on sale before the 20th then gift it that day.
Chewblaha
I think if some of us are on steam, we should update our wishlist to include stuff because it's pretty fucking bajesusy hard to pick a game out when someone already owns Bastion.
deanb
Chew part of the Secret Santa thing was that we had to update our wishlists (Though it seems some only recently updated them due to the wishlist giveaway happening right now. Which is handy cos my secret santee orignalyl had semi-expensive tastes in games) btw the Steam Xmas sale starts at the end of this. 10th December (maybe 11th, depends on what Steam uses for "in 10 days"). Either way plenty of time between 10th n 20th to pick stuff up in sales.
