P4: Gritty Reboot
We are picking up the 3DS / Super Mario 3D Land bundle at (Best Buy? Target?) for $179.99 for our 3-year-old.
CorgiShinobi
Best Buy will have Assassin's Creed: Revelations for $35. If I had the money, Best Buy will also have the 250GB Xbox 360 bundle (Fable III and Halo: Reach) for $199.99. GameStop will have Rocksmith for $50, and I don't particularly know guitar well enough to say I "play." There's also going to be the reveal of the Legend of Zelda 25th Anniversary Special Edition 3DS bundle (Ocarina of Time 3D) for $179.99 at a few places like Best Buy. It'll be either $189.99 or the retail price of $199.99 at others. EDIT: Oh, but yeah, I'm going to try to go to one of these on Black Friday. Strangelove
You guys ever do black friday before? I havent. Is it easy to get electronics and stuff from Walmart, Best Buy, Gamestop, or Target? Those are the places that are going to have the PS3 on sale. How early do you have to be there to get something you want?
CorgiShinobi
I haven't on the night of, but it might depend where you live for the most part. If you have a heavy Wal-Mart community, they may all flock there leaving you the people committed to savings at other retail stores. That's what it'll be like for me at least when I go home for Thanksgiving. The Wal-mart is literally two blocks away, but none of their sales really interest me. excel_excel
They don't really do it over in Ireland....I think......I'll probably order some shit on amazon
Strangelove
RadioShack is going to have ps3 for 200, anyone here ever seen consoles there? Only stuff I ever see is accessories.
BrainHurtBoy...2
I bought my 360 from Radioshack. I don't think people know they sell consoles there, so it was the only place I could find a 360 in the holiday season of 07.
Strangelove
Maybe they keep them in the back? I have a RadioShack across the street, so it would be awesome.

deanb
From my understanding loads of places are doing $200 PS3s. Been a few guys in steam chat discussing em. One even wanted it purely for a "cheap" Blu-ray n netflix player until I pointed out he can pick up something for $85 that does just that. Mal
I recall not much people go to Radioshack to line up but then again, I never checked myself. For Walmart and Bestbuy... god. It all depends on the area. I've been first in line at Walmart before (!) when I went around at midnight. I do the same at Bestbuy and I can easily be "30". Quotations because fuckers save spots for a few people which can quickly balloon my spot to 100+. Then you can have pieces of shits with legs lined up to grabs one of each ticket. By the time it get to you, there isn't much left. Then they have the god damn balls to try to sell the tickets. Fucking cunts. ... Yeah, stick with Radioshack or wait for Cyber Monday. Lots easier and less rage.
P4: Gritty Reboot
I personally hate Black Friday, but my wife goes every year. Honestly the only stuff that goes like hotcakes, that you have to be there at midnight for, is like the $199 LCD TVs or extremely cheap consoles or something like that. Most of the discounts you should be able to get most of the day.
CorgiShinobi
Yeah, Best Buy is going to have a Sharp 42" 1080p LCD HDTV for $199.99. Of course, there is a limit of 10 per store. I feel like most gamers wait till Cyber Monday because Black Friday is more of an "all-around" discount event. There are still a good number of video game deals, but maybe not "personal injury" worth it. http://bfads.net/ I've posted the link again, simply because I prefer the ad scans there. RockyRan
That's a minimum, not a limit. Some dude over at slickdeals who says he works at BB said he's looked at the inventories of the BBs in his area and they got inventories in the range of 12-33. I might give that TV a shot but I'm certain there'll be a whole ton of maniacs camping out since 5 am on Thanksgiving day for that TV specifically. That, or the TV will be shite. CorgiShinobi
Herp-a-derp on my part, even after I read the page... twice. Then again, you'll get the nuts who'll want to buy more than one TV so they can make a profit online. I can only imagine the television being mediocre. but it's still worth $200 if you can get your hands on one.
Strangelove
How good are my chances of getting a 200 dollar PS3 online that day? Ive never done online black friday shopping. Im curious if i should leave the house or not.
Mal
I'm willing to bet that you can get a $200 PS3 anytime from Black Friday to Cyber Monday. You can keep on checking stores and if you are unable to get one, check online when you get back home. I would be surprised if by this time next week that you haven't gotten a PS3. deanb
For those in the UK (well any that are reading this thread despite us not doing Thanksgiving and thus no Black Friday), Amazon are doing Black Friday. It's running this week, as far as games go they're not too awesome. (though I am currently wondering is Super Scribblenuats for £7 is a decent price) Just check 'em under the "Today's Deals" tab. TheMightyEthan
I very much loved Super Scribblenauts. $11 isn't bad.
Strangelove
Scribblenauts Remix is pretty good if you have an iPhone. It has 40 levels from both games.
CorgiShinobi
It's that time of year folks! If you don't already know about some retail store Black Friday deals, then you must visit Black Friday Ads (.net) So far, two of the Top 3 retailers in the States have their Black Friday ads out, with only Target hinting at what they'll be offering, but I imagine we'll see something later this week. Look through and see what deals you're interested in. For me... Best Buy has the best deals for my interests. They have the PS3 250GB bundle with the Uncharted and Infamous collection bundled in for $200! There are some other stores that have that same bundle like RadioShack, but they're asking $230 for it because they throw in an extra controller. The individual game sales however has to go to Best Buy. I'm thinking that I can at least get Assassin's Creed III for $35 and Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance for $15. Walmart though has specific retailer PS3 controllers where in the ad we see a kind of "smokey gray" plastic and clear blue plastic controller. There's a lot to look through, so take your time. Keep in mind too that different stores will have different "waves" of doorbusters and that opening times are different, like how Walmart will open at 8:00 PM (Event 1) whereas Best Buy will open at midnight. TheRevanchist
Walmart never really closed last year. They had lines going out the door for door buster deals by certain hours. If I remember, the deals started at 8, another gang of deals started at midnight, some more at 4 am. That way, they had a steady flow of people. Radio Shack's deals are almost useless. I'm not even sure why they bother trying. KMart had a few interesting deals. Sears has some decent deals, but they are doing some crazy hours thing, where they open at 8, close at some time, open at 2am, close, then open at some other weird time. But, yeah, I'm waiting for Target, too. They usually have good sales on items I need/use. Old Navy is going to have some deal where certain Old Navy stores will sell you a Wii U for a penny if you buy $40 worth of merchandise. However, those stores are limited to 3 per store. Once they are gone, that is it. The line for Old Navy is usually forming very early, so I probably won't go there this year.
