deanb
What was that Shark-looking batman all about? http://gif-explode.com/?explode=http://i.imgur.com/SCdTFIg.gif Which one? I've a feeling you might be thinking Owlman, in which case, as the name implies, that's not Batman (also Crisis on Two Earths is pretty good, James Woods does a good Owlman)
Eleven
It was this one: Apparently I;m not allowed to use an image extension on this community... Huh... It's the one above lego batman.

deanb
I think that's one of the Elseworlds (in fact a lot of them are), maybe one where it's an actual bat/vampire. On the "image extension" thingy, I assume you're trying to hotlink their images. They don't have any extension. It's the most common issue you guys have when that error pops up. When embedding an image check it's got jpg/gif/png on the end.
Mister Jack
Ugh, I just read a statement from the woman playing Susan Storm in the Fantastic Four reboot where she says that she was going to read the comics for research but the director told her it wasn't necessary because the movie isn't based on the comics or the the history of the Fantastic Four. So now we have a comic movie that's not based on a comic. I thought the whole point behind rebooting Fantastic Four was to make one that didn't suck? TheMightyEthan
Just cause it's not going to be based on the comics doesn't mean it's going to suck.

Alex Heat
So I guess parts of the internet are already swirling with malice and scorn over the announcement that Thor will soon be a lady. It comes off as kind of a half-assed shock value gimmick when it's described as being a way to 'shake up the Big Three'. Sure, if the comics are good, I'll read'em. However, I wouldn't be anymore interested just because 'hey, Thor is a girl now'. Maybe it's because we're still hot off the heels of the female assassins in Assassin's creed hullabaloo that it seems that way.
Mister Jack
Um, so what happens to the old Thor? Does he have to change his name to Steve?
TheMightyEthan
Hey, this is kind of unrelated but I have some swamp land I'd like to sell to you. I'm not saying it's definitely going to be good either, just that whether or not it's directly based on the comics doesn't determine whether or not it's good. Mister Jack
I suppose that technically it is possible (however improbable) that it could somehow be good, but come on. We all know how it usually turns out when a director takes an established franchise and decides he wants to "reinvent" it because he has a "different vision" in mind. Even the Nolan Batman movies followed the comics to an extent. Throwing the source material out the window is how we get things like alien ninja turtles and Uwe Boll's entire oeuvre. staySICK
Re: the Thor thing. The sexist/knee jerk diatribe (I'm not saying all the backlash is rooted in sexism, but a good portion is) that's been coming from this is another illustration of why I largely hate comic fans. They do stuff like this all the time, how many times has Batman not been Bruce Wayne? Or Spider-Man Peter Parker? I'm surprised and pleased that Miles is still UltSpidey. Certainly the fact that female readers are the fastest expanding market for comic readers is no coincidence, but even then the fact that Jason Aaron is writing should make it clear it's going to be a quality book. Side note: read Southern Bastards. All of you. The announcement isn't going to give everything away, it's to drum up interest, which I'd say it succeeded well. The questions I'm sure will be answered in the current Thor title and the new one. I'm looking forward to being able to buy comics weekly again. Alex Heat
I agree that a lot of the backlash is pretty much 'ewwwwwwww girls have COOTIES and VAGINAS!', though the statement of 'we want to shake things up, so we're making an existing character a girl!' rubbed me the wrong way. It feels different from the long gradual build up of Carol Danvers taking over the role of Captain Marvel. Like it wouldn't be successful if they'd just created an entirely new hero. Edit: In other news, the new Spider-Man 2099 series started. Hells yeah! I loves me some Miguel O'Hara. Mister Jack
I don't mind a female Thor except for the fact that they seem to be doing it in kind of a confusing way. I thought Thor was the guy's name. Is this an alternate universe or something? Is Thor actually just a title like the Dread Pirate Roberts? If she's replacing the old Thor, what are we supposed to call him now? I understand that they didn't want to call her "Lady Thor" or "Thorina" or anything like that, but having the exact same name is still going to make people call her "Lady Thor" in conversation just to differentiate her from the original Thor. deanb
My understanding is comic book Thor is "whoever is worthy to wield the hammer Meumer" (or however it goes). So should a women be deemed worthy then she'll become Thor.
Alex Heat
Speaking of shakin' up the comics, the rumor that they were going to make Captain America a black dude is true. I can taste the hate in the air already. It's just that they meant Sam Wilson (the Falcon) was taking over the role (again). No biggie. We had Isaiah Bradley (who was also black!), William Nasland, Jeffrey Mace, William Burnside, the two one shots that lasted a single fight (Bob Russo, Scar Turpin), Roscoe Simons, John Walker (US Agent), Bucky (who is better as Winter Soldier anyway, I think) and David Rickford (while Steve is leading S.H.I.E.L.D.). It feels like less of a ploy with Cap since, as stated above, he's given up the job to others a whole bunch of time. Same deal with Tony, though as far as I remember, only Rhodey's worn the Iron Man suit otherwise (but Tony's been turned into a girl before!). Just gotta wonder how long this one'll stick. deanb
http://youtu.be/Nt9fxWq5qg0 Man this could be an interesting documentary. There's been bits of Superman Lives leaking out for ages, I quite liked the core concept driving to make Superman alien, the costume was pretty cool.
