Nothing yet other than a few glances at other titles while I'm buying. The first issue is definitely your typical setup for what little we know of the characters and the technology for time travel. Kinda was annoying how for a few pages there's talk about how nothing could go wrong, but you know the whole premise calls for the time travel aspect to go awry.

Invincible is fairly self-contained, from what I recall; it's just been running a long time. That collection would be a good buy though.

Most independent comics would probably fit what you're after because they're not part of Marvel/DC universes so keep everything in one place. Probably all comes down to taste more than anything, really.

I found Powers was a good series as well... which reminds me that I need to check out that terrible-sounding Sony adaptation.

Missed out on Silk #3 today, so all the female webslingers are popular in the area. Haven't had to order online for a while since most issues I'm interested in are available any time of the day, if not week.

Will say, I've dipped into DC's Convergence, but there far too many issues to fully commit. I'm fairly certain the vast majority pick a few they're interested in and keep it to that amount. Hence why the local comic store is running out of room to place the leftover issues.

I recently stumbled across a /co/ thread that was heaping a lot of praise onto, of all things, a comic based on a Disney property.  To be more specific, it was Don Rosa's "The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck."  Considering that /co/ is pretty hard to please (and they despise both Marvel and DC), this seemed pretty significant so I decided to "acquire" the series so I can read it for myself.  I was aware of this comic's existence before, but I wasn't aware of just how highly regarded it is, let alone the fact that it won the Eisner Award in 1997 for best writing.  This is pretty different from the sort of stuff I usually read so I'm looking forward to diving right into it after I finish this post.

I finally finished Wasteland. The art was really off-putting at times (it improved a lot around issue 20) but the writing was solid for the most part and it ends well. Like DMZ most of the story ends before the final arc which is cool. It makes the final arc more of an epilogue. While it was a shitload of exposition towards the end the story they're explaining is fucking excellent.

Overall I'm pleased.

Also I read the first issue of Mythic and I really liked it. I don't think Image's descriptions really get the feel of a comic down in some cases so I thought it would be something completely different than it is. Kaptara is great as well. I was cracking up in a restaurant reading it and this kid kept looking at me. I could not help myself.

I finished The Boys. It's a bit naf. Mainly finished it to wrap up from the fact housemate had me start it in uni. I feel at the end of the day the story/point it's trying to get to could be told much better n with a lot of the sex n violence out of the way. It becomes so mundane by the end some of the deaths of "oh hey, that hero punched the other heroes head off" is a "meh" than a "oh god what just happened there!"

This sums up why I never finished it. Ennis can do better but I feel like he just stuck with what sold copies from the start. It reads like Millar put  it out.

Some bits about post-Secret Wars. Not that I'm really tracking this stuff, mainline DC/Marvel stuff has way too much shit to care about the likes of Secret Wars/Convergence. Mainly follow bits through friends that do. Seems they're maybe doing a not-Logan Wolverine (and similar with Spiderman and Hulk...maybe it'll be like Thor, with "spiderwoman" and "she-hulk". That'd be crazy! :P)

There's a lot of speculation/hope that since Fox is bargaining with Marvel for the rights to a live action X-Men TV show, the Fantastic Four rights could go back to Marvel. At this point, Fantastic Four are probably worthless for a dedicated film, but a lot of the enemies/support characters included could be good for The Avengers or the cosmic side of Marvel (Galactus, Silver Surfer, etc). Then maybe slowly introduce Reed Richards and co as support characters and build from there. Or do a Netflix series maybe... worked for Daredevil.

Started reading Fables, either through one of your lots recommendations or housemates (I think the latter). Pretty neat. One aspect I like is they reckon popularity of character among the "mundys" (mundanes aka us) increases the "immortality" of the real life counterpart. For example one character gets shot in the head but her being super popular with us means she heals up (takes a while, not Wolverine style), while lesser known die from being shot/stabbed etc. Reason I like this theory is it's how gods work in Discworld (with some, much like the Fables, appearing in multiple religions to increase their power from belief).

I imagine that Once Upon A Time is strongly influenced by Fables since they share a lot in common (though Prince Charming is much less of a womanizer in OUAT).

Oh talking of Wolverine, I also wrapped up Old Man Logan. I guess I can see why folks would want this Logan on film as the final Huged Jacked Man film. Also got Dead Pool Kills wrapped up too.
