Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance

One of the trailers mentioned cyborg technology being available to pretty much everyone after the Patriots went Kaput! So I want to see what's up with that, also, since they mentioned it was after the Patriots I want to know why Raiden is back to his cyborg ninja mode. Unless they already said why. :P

Uh, didn't expect this thread would be buried so far.

Oh well, just gave the demo a go. Holy crap, do want! Platinum's trademark insane, precise and fast-paced gameplay was to be expected but it also feels surprisingly more like Metal Gear than I expected. Whether it does the series justice thematically and story-wise remains to be seen. But on a more superficial level, it's Metal Gear alright. Stuff like the HUD, sound, visual style, etc. Not sure yet whether I'll be able to pick it up at launch but it will probably be my first console purchase since like.. Mass Effect 3.

I'm really tempted to pre-order because there's that smexy Gray Fox skin, sword, and art book if you pre-order from GameStop.

Japan has all five skins as retailer specific, though the MGS4 Raiden skin has been a promotional item in the last few days.

In the end I'll have to see where I am financial because you can guarantee all these skins can be purchased later.

EDIT: To clarify, the United States seems to only have three of the five skins, and all you UK types will get all the skins in the game. GameStop has Gray Fox, Best Buy has White Armor (carry more health items), and Amazon has Inferno Armor (carry more throwing weapons).

I played it in September and wasn't a fan of the camera moving too fast if you're running towards someone and you hold (I think) R1 to go into the precision mode. Felt the camera should have been grounded, or at least had the sensitivity turned down a bit for situations like that.

It was a pretty fun game, but I can't see myself paying full-retail for it. Will wait patiently for Ground Zeroes instead.

You don't have to purchase anything; having the money and/or time later is more important than having something like a skin. Yeah, I could get some cool bonus stuff for a game I definitely want, but I'm not going to put the cart before the horse if it means blowing $60 when I could (if not should) save it for later.

Then again, I'm "that guy" who doesn't know the proper method of consuming as a consumer.

EDIT: And so to contribute to the discussion of this game, if any of you saw the white cat on the beach, you may have not thought anything of it. If you actually tried to slice it...

I'll admit. I AM REALLY tempted on getting this game. Sadly, I got wiser (And broke) with money and won't be getting it...

I never touched a DMC game and only ever played a bit of Bayonetta but hearing (Plus seeing a bit) on how awesome the boss fights are... it is tempting.

Honestly, the story is a bit short and half the game takes place in Denver, Colorado, but it has the Platinum Games charm where it mixes elements of the Metal Gear universe with a style similar to Vanquish and Bayonetta, but still makes itself entirely unique.

Right now, I thought I would get all the collectibles and secrets while playing through my completed Normal playthrough, but other content doesn't unlock until you've played on higher difficulties. You really do want to start out on Normal to get the hang of the game because even going onto Hard steps up the difficulty quite a lot.

I honestly doubt I'll S Rank on Revengeance difficulty since to "S Rank" means you take no damage in any ranked battle. I'll tell ya this, even when you can parry, some enemies attack with such intensity.

Also, you do want to actively listen to codec conversations. They help explain some of the WTF moments of the game and they do tend to be entertaining. I've learned that Raiden's eye patch is actually an optical device, all the cyborgs are explained to be the standard frame where they'll look the same, and cyborg boobies are still not as realistic as real ones.

EDIT: Oh, and if you're somehow a master your first run, I guess the game could be "5 hours."

My experience, the bosses will trash you a couple times where you have to learn their pattern, and what approach you want to take since there are a few strategies to these guys. Freaking Monsoon gave me a lot of trouble.
