TheMightyEthan
I think my favorite kind of health bar is the one in Halo: Reach (the actual health bar, not the shields) where it will regen by thirds, so it won't regen completely but you always have enough health that you can't get yourself into an impossible situation. toxicitizen
Yeah, I'll be honest a lot of it seemed heavily scripted, so it might not act the same way out in "the wild", but it seemed pretty neat with like the reactions to *click click* "I know that sound". And nice to have it seem like bullets are somewhat scarce and that maybe you're a bit of a shit shot. Unlike Uncharted with M4 ammo all over an ancient ruin. Seems Naughty Dog are claiming it wasn't scripted at all. If true, then I'm impressed. http://www.gamepodunk.com/page/index.html/_/industry-news/sony/e3-2012-naughty-dog-claims-the-last-of-us-demo-was-not-scripted-r806
TheMightyEthan
If it were a Japanese company I'd say they may be lying, but generally western companies don't outright lie, if they don't want to admit something they'll just avoid the issue and not really respond. The fact that they're owned by Sony throws a wrinkle into it though...
Cyber Rat
If it were a Japanese company I'd say they may be lying, but generally western companies don't outright lie, if they don't want to admit something they'll just avoid the issue and not really respond. If I were to mention Fable, that would be the exception? ;P I won't believe it's not scripted until I see it for myself. For now, my attitude is: if scripted - meh; if dynamic - holy crap amazing. Strangelove
I don't get why people think it's entirely scripted. Maybe a lot of people didn't play Uncharted 3, but they did a lot of the stuff they did here in that game. If you were close to a table or a chair, Nathan would smash them against it instead of punching them. Ellie probably helps Joel when he's caught in some sort of "grab". That would explain the brick throwing. Sensing the empty gun? I doubt that would be hard to program. I think a lot of people are just traumatized by past AI partners. Cyber Rat
I think a lot of people are just traumatized by past AI partners. Can you seriously blame them? I mean, seriously, I think people have every right to be wary.
Strangelove
Yeah. RE5 is a perfect example of how awful AI partners can be. Ugh.
TheMightyEthan
Yeah, I don't see what's so amazing from that demo that people think must be scripted.
P4: Gritty Reboot
I don't pay attention to Sony much because I don't have any of their hardware, but wow The Last of Us gameplay video looks great. Other than the usual combat system, everything looked top-notch. May have to borrow a PS3 at some point.
Strangelove
http://www.latestnewsexplorer.com/the-last-us-campaign-will-not-have-co-op/ THANK. FUCKING. GOD.
Mister Jack
I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out to be separate mini-stories like in Uncharted. Or a survival mode about actually surviving in the wild. How cool would that be?
Strangelove
Nice.
Dee
I can't wait to get my hands on this thing. It's looking more tantalizing with every bit and piece they show us.

CorgiShinobi
They're really keeping the mushroom zombies hidden away. I think it's smart that they show the human enemies, but it's not like we've forgotten that something horrific and abnormal caused this world in The Last of Us. Gotta say though, I like how they reinforced the time period with the cassette tape. I mean, CDs were around when I was a kid, but popular music would still be released on cassette. TCP
Reminds me of when Independence Day came out in the 90s, and they never showed the aliens in the commercials till after the film was released. Also as The Cowboy Poet, I have to say... Hank FUCKIN' Williams.
Strangelove
Theyre giving away these posters at PAX. Looks cool. Also some tshirts.
Luftwaffles
Theyre giving away these posters at PAX. Looks cool. Also some tshirts. Ugh, wish I was going. But won't be up there until the day it ends, and I sort of need money for other stuff.
Faiblesse Des Sens
I'm an Enforcer, but I have shit hours for actually getting onto the show floor. Maybe I'll pick it up if I'm lucky.
deanb
Huh, bit more populated than I expected. Bit more gameplay shown here, including QTE's (or at least button mashing).
SomTervo
Yeah looking pretty sweet. There's still no evidence whatsoever as to how the close-quarters-combat system will work though, and people are throwing around judgements? I love how Naughty Dog are now masters at capturing utter cliché's, yet making them their own. Making them sound absolutely original. 'It all comes down to that girl' or whatever. Such, such a generic phrase now, but their characterization and VA is so good it sounds fresh and believable. Amy Hennig is in charge of this one, too, yeah? Pro. Faiblesse Des Sens
Cliche or trope?
SomTervo
I'd say it's usually specific lines of dialogue, like the one I quoted, and that's cliché right? Although I guess they subscribe to a lot of tropes in their works, too. Often subvert them with a bit of humour, in Uncharted's case at least. Hopefully Last of Us will be a bit more original. Hennig's a smart lady.
